View Full Version : Runes, worth upgrading?

I've been collecting many runes for a while. And I have 3 amns, is it worth upgrading them into a sol? At what point is it worthless to upgrade runes?

Usually if I have 4 of any given rune I’ll upgrade it. Leaving 1 behind for RW.

Sols are sought after for the RW 'insight'. So Sols are good.

I upgrade runes all the time depending on what I need.

Amn's are sought after for the RW "Spirit." So Amn's are also good.

Personly I wait till I have about 5 of one kind of rune and then I cube it up. That way I still have about 2 of the originaly rune left incase I need them to make/cube/trade something, but I also have one of the next runes too.

Around Lum I start to slow down with cubing them up, making sure I have lots of the original, or if I truely need the next level up.

it al depends on need.

i always kick myself afterwards when i cube lower runes, just because i reroll a lot of spirits and insights, and i go to my runemule to find out that i cubed up all those orts, rals, thuls, and sols.

upgrading really isnt worth it imho, because you can always use the runes to make valuable runewords. if you play a lot of chars (like i do), extras of thse runewords are always welcome.

also you can use many of the lower runes to craft some great items :)

I have had to cube alot of orts lately to get thuls. Its weird, i get ort, tal, ral, all the time but rarely find thuls.

what do people use elds for? i don't remeber any crafting recipies that used them. i only ask because of the 3 or 4 people i have seen asking for them in bulk

Increase the blocking % of shields by 7%.

When I used to play ( oh so many ages ago ) I kept RALs, AMNs, SOLs and ORTs for crafting or trading to other crafters. Everything else got cubed until I would hit ISTs ( was standard currency back then )
