Keys?????????

Ok, this may be a dumb question but what the heck are the keys I keep hearing about? What are they supposed to open and how do I get some?

There are 3 keys. One can be dropped by the Countess, one from Summoner, and one from Nihlithak (all only in Hell). When you have one of each, the cube opens a portal to fight uber-Izzy, Andy, or Dury (chosen randomly, unless all 3 portals are opened in one game, they can only be opened in A5 hell). Each boss gives a body part; collect all 3 to go to uber-Tristram and fight uber-Diablo, Meph, and Baal all at once.

Is it uber-Diablo, or pandemonium Diablo. Either case that means death to us all.

Can you only have 1 copy of each key, or can you get all nine and make 1 of each in the game?

I don't know the difference, and being at work, I have no access to Arreat's Summit to check, so if there's a prefix applied to a version of Diablo, Meph, and Baal, that's it.

You can have as many copies of the keys as you can carry. This is why people recommend having 9 (3 of each) in one game is so that you can open 3 portals and be guaranteed of not duplicating efforts killing the same boss multiple times.

I was just on Arreat and there is Diablo, Pandemonium Diablo, and Uber Diablo. Different stats for each one.

I'll have to defer to someone who can look it up or has fought them before... I'd assume it's whichever is toughest.

Uber Diablo aka Dclone is the one who drops annihilus
Pandemonium Diablo is the one you fight in 'Uber Tristram' with his 2 brothers (Torch Drop)

Either way, he isn't called Pandemonium Diablo in Tristram. Just simple Diablo

Two guides, two seperate quests. Most of your questions should be answered by browsing these. I need to point out though that any character build/gear suggestions you may read about in these threads are aimed towards softcore players, so beware.

The ubers are fairly hard to fight, and require a specialized character (or 2). Running Hell Nihlathak for keys is also fairly difficult and requires a relativly specialized character as well.

If you plan to fight them be prepared to invest some time/trading material into it before you even get to see them. Also don't go in blind! Read as much as you can before you go in. You need to know about the OK's by Izzy, and the Snakes on the way to Nihlathak, etc.

I'm not trying to discourage you though! The first time I made it to them (with help) was a rush!! Just don't want you to die without getting a torch.

I'm not planning on going in their any time soon, recently lost my lvl 57 S/Bo/Bc barb to a TPPKer. From what I’ve seen so far he is a good one to have in a torch run. But as I said he died and am working on a sorc right now.
