Just a warning... a lot of people are spreading the rumor that East was down because they were fixing tppk. It isn't true. A few of us tested it (manually, of course), and it can still kill.

I was there, and I second this! Public games are still deadly.

So it was just Blizzard being lazy eating Easter eggs instead of fixing their servers after all.

On the bright side I had a ton of fun with all the banana refugees over on west. And we all bowed to treb and his godly light sorc that rushed o so many of us.

Maybe one of the techies left a chocolate easter bunny sitting on a router when he left the office on Saturday, and it melted into all the circuts. Not only is chocolate bad for dogs, but its bad for Diablo 2 as well!

Indeed it was fun to go over to west and goof around untwinked for a bit. I even met sirDooFuss breifly and gurrman! I lost interest after I got tppked though. I knew I shouldn't have been in that public nm baal game!

Luckaly for me East came back online shortly after I died!

Can you blame them?
In order to "fix" TPPK, they'd need to adjust every single skill that does damage, and probably the ones that don't -_-

Ok, out of curiosity, what the fiddle sticks is TPPK? I could take a few educated guesses, but I would like to be certain.

I've always thought it was a 'cowardly' way of PKing someone by firing off an area-of-effect skill that lasts for a while (Blizzard, Blessed Hammer, Fissure), TPing to town, and then hostiling everyone who would be under/over the spell at that time.

They then take damage and probably die.

However, I'm told that there's a 'hack' that automatically casts the spell, TPs, and hosts for you in a split second.

And Blizzard has fixed it for a few skills, like hydra, asn traps, and hammers.
They just didn't worry about doing the rest of them.

Its only really a problem in HC. If it was a problem in SC, it'd be fixed by now.

This would end all TPPK without effecting 'legit' PKs.

He speaks the truth! and it seems like it would be so simple for Blizzard to do also! Seriously...

if.Loop "hostileButton" = clicked then
--hostileCounter = hostileCounter + 1
--
----If hostileCounter = "10" then
----active Hostile
----hostileCounter = 0
----Exit hostileButton loop
----end.if
--
else Loop

Or something like that, its been a while! But hey, Blizzard and Frozen orb both have active timers, why not just modify that to count to 10 when the hostile button is pressed?

-hps

Note: For any programers who actually know what they are doing... it was a joke! I realize the program would not work, the syntax is wrong, and even if written properly it would lock the game up for a count of 10 (which would go by really really fast because I didn't incluse any kind of delay).

or just make it that when you enter a tp all your spells disappear, like they did with hydra's.

MoUsE_WiZ

They already have the code to make spells disappear. So far as I know they'd just have to add a call to said code in the right place(s). I mean I could be wrong, but I'd be quite surprised if I was.

Diabloii.net half-assed pretend coders > Blizzard coders :prop:

Think we should apply for jobs there?

I don't know about the delay hostility, but a thought I had was to ad the delay of being in town for 5-10 seconds then being able to hostile. They’ve added the delay from hostelling to using wps and tp so it shouldn't be too hard.

So how do you explain those strange men with the keyboards on West :P

People who play Blizzard games aren't allowed to work there.

Is that because the employees might realize the games are terribly flawed, and try to press managment into spending money on improving them? Thus causing managment to have to fire these employees and hire/train new ones?

got any nails? can you explain that joke too..?

the fact is fixing bugs costs blizz money. once you buy the game blizzard doesnt care to make their free battlenet service better.

It's the line before the punchline of a terribly long and not very good joke. I won't bore you with the rest of it.

Wild guesses:

They don't want to fix it, or they would have long ago. They want hardcore playing to remain the way it is, leaving the opportunity in there to 'get rid' of potential high level players. People are allowed to do that because they want to keep the being-not-so-smart-about-it players out.

Listen, this is what happened to me:

I sit in a game, and this lvl85 druid joins in. Sigh.

He says "Hey, I'll help you." "Thanks!" I say. So I give him a tp, thinking TPPK is fixed. He runs around a little with me in Crystalline Passage, and he says "So what do you need to do?" "Ancients I guess" I told him. "Where from?" he says. Half a second later I'm dead.

I wasn't being smart about it, that's for sure :D

I just tried doing manual go to town and hostile on a friend with the following spells:

meteor, charged bolt, firewall, blaze

He said they all dissappeared after I went to town. So I'm guessing not every skill works.

Its true, some of them were fixed long ago. Hydra for example, and Hammers.

However Charged Bolt is one of the spells we tested this with after east came back up. I saw the life on treb's barb drop by 1/4 from a field of Charged Bolts.
