Poison Javazon

I'm back to diablo II for a while, and I've started an Amazon. I like to have a shield, so I started a Javazon. I'm thinking of going for plague Javelin and either Jab or fend (probably jab though), cause of the low skill investment in poison, and the fact that I don't trust lightning damage because of the low minimum damage.

Now this is what I'm planning to do:

jab: 10
Poison javelin: 10
plague javelin: 20
evade skills: 5 each (15 total)
Valkierie: 10
Decoy: 10
deadly strike: 10

Wondering if I should drop the valkierie (or just keep it at lvl 1 and recast), in which case I don't need the points in decoy either, which would allow me to max poison javelin and put some more points in the evade skills.

I also wonder if I can get by without pierce. I know pierce is necessary when going for lightning, but the area of effect of plague jav is larger.

And lastly, any tips what kind of (affordable, just starting out) gear?

I would put less points in decoy and more points in valk myself. 1 point in decoy will give you something to toss around, but after + skills it will still have enough life to stand for a bit before it dies.

Valk gets its final set of rare equipment at level 17, so I would shoot for it being level 17 after +skills.
