Welcome aboard Slick!!

I never played single player...i jumped right into battle.net...so, my answer, go for it!!

Just make sure you read through the scams sticky (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=388625) at the top of the newcomer thread...always a good idea for newcomers to b.net...

happy hunting.

Well....

I started playing WAAAAY back Single, and really wished I had started earlier on-line. I had some decent stuff and had to give up my character to start anew on B-Net. Kinda suxd!

Even though you are on B-Net, you can still password your games and play your own game alone. But the nice thing is if ya want you can jump into public games at any time and either play for experiance (much quicker with a group on b-net) or trade stuff you don't want for items you do. There's a great trade forum on this site.

If you want a group to play with, it's best to find them via this site. Most here are great people and you can always keep in touch via the site or on B-Net. Another advantage being a regular here is help is always at hand, either by reading the guides or asking for actual on-line help within a game. It's all good!

BTW, If you are going to start US West - Non Ladder and want some help in-game, let me know. I'm always starting new builds and just messing around! Would be more than happy to give you a hand.

Yes, Single Player chars cannot be used for realm play.

Exactly, lvl 15 paladin is not that much - a few tristram runs will get you another one. The online play is quite different from single player, which I have played for the first few years of my diablo 2 experience :wink3:

You can try to use the player matchup forum to find some nice people to play with. With only some pgems and low runes you will be able to buy decent starter gear.

Make sure you read some guides before you choose a build but it is nothing to be ashamed of if you mess up your first char - we have all been there

If you have any problems or questions feel free to visit the newcomer forum

All that work can be done in ~20 minutes maybe on b.net  Just join trisruns as adviced before. You don't have to have done cain quest as long as the creator of the runs have, so you can start doing these runs at lvl 1 if you wish.

but it's more fun to acctually play the game then to rush it ...

I would be a lot happier if everybody playing on bnet at least knew what the game is about. There are too many idiots around that have no idea of what quests is whatsoever, and it makes me annoyed. They buy their items on eBay, got the best stuff money can buy, and still do not know how to complete a quest.

Though, since you got a lvl15 char on single player, you at least know the basics of the game. Welcome to bnet! One can always explore the rest of the game online...

Yea, like Kijya said, you can get to lv 15 in 20 minutes....easily. But if you want someone to level up with, i'm always starting new characters....msg me if you want.

Glad you like the game!

(...and that Paladin is not lost in any way. He will always be there, ready for some single player (or multiplayer via TCP) action.)

When you have a bottle of valium on hand, lol. :D

I am going to be a conservative here and say you should at least go through normal mode first, unless you have friends already on battle.net. Going straight to battle.net when you get the game is a little like diving on your first swimming lesson. It's not just that the game is confusing, it's that the servers can be very unforgiving to anyone who doesn't at least have their bases covered.
