ok im currently making an impaler purely for pking

with skill points im thinking bout

20 impale
20 critical strike
20 penetrate
20 dodge

would this work?
And what equiptment should i use?

Im pretty sure noone will respond but i feel like asking anyway

havent made one, so just speculation
first I remind you that impale is slooooow
it is the valkirie attack, and it has like 27 frames of animation (or was it 2,7 second?)

but I think you could also put few points in valk
and spawn her near the necros, amazons, fohers
actually with 20e/a/d maybe even barbs would have problem to hit you and the valk would:
a) take some hits (and die...)
b) actually hurt the barb
c) it is hard to reach some pvp chars, so you could cast a valk near them and she would at least put them in the defense animation for a moment (less hits for you, you need to run near the enemy)

I wonder if impale misses if the opponent wws away (just like leap attack for example, in the past it would hit even if you would run away half screen back)

few pts in slow missile are nice too vs necros? (but you cant leap and you die anyway?) and javas???

you need a 300damage pike I think, so that you can get a 1hit KO
if it is even possible (technically you can do like 2600damage? was it 1/10 in pvp? so 260 damage once per 2seconds?)
THE PIKE NEEDS 30 IAS

I think you should balance (resistance, fast attack speed, faster run, crushing blow (just goblins))

resistance gear and faster run vs sorc; (autoloss, you never catch them, they just tele away IMO)

faster run and damage vs necros (crushing blow) (they trap you in the bone trap and kill you)

and fast attack speed vs barbs (shield would be useful, but then why not make a javazon? also you do like 260?? damage per hit and attack once per 2seconds, so he will kill you at some point with 10th ww; by the time you do few hits they will do like 10-20 at least)

vs bowzons/javas - faster run, I think you have a chance to win actually, because good bows are hard to find, not sure about freezing/fire arrow
still your res will be always painfully low (maybe a goldskin LOL)

vs foh - cast the valk, try to get near him, I think you will win
vs hammer - no idea if you can catch him
vs charger - ??? interesting matchup actually? I think you could win



I dont think using shield makes any sense
Wonder if the dodge/evade/avoid bug affects impale; hopefully not

the gear could be twitch, death's gloves+sash, +2 res amu (the cold dmg from etlich amu is worth anything btw?) with leech for pvm, +ar res min dmg (leech) rings; goblins? or 30r/w boots
CHECK THE IAS TABLES FOR IMPALE (on that german website, but they arent verified I think)
not sure how much you need, 30 from pike, 30 from death's, 20 from twitch = 80 ias
I think you can reach 90 (or even 100?) ias somehow with melee amazon, cant remember how (I think some set combo gave 10ias???), or maybe I was just using the the unique (CRAPPY) 40ias yari to level up my fend-zon


maybe you could switch for a hawkmail vs sorc (cannot be frozen)

and the crushing blow armor vs barbs? or the open wounds armor

perhaps full iratha set for 65 res (crap in hell) and 20R/W (or 10?)
but then your impale speed would be loooooow, due to lack of ias








such character could win vs badly made characters - or ones belonging to poor players
I can see this working on europe non-ladder due to incredible dupe abuse
(espiecially vs foh)
321pike + 244 helmet + death's set + (twitch?) + 30%rw duped boots with 3res, 2 60%res rings, +2 res amu with dual leech...
but dupes are not fun

and actually any other char with such gear would be better I think

The only thing you should use an impale zon for is lvl 12 pker, if you want to be succesful in high levels... use jab and this gear

Deaths combo
Twitch/rcage
30 r/w res boots/gtoe
40 ias high dmg Lance/Yari
ar res rings
+zon pris ammy
fhr life res helm

15ed harpoon + sback in stash. Id recommend you have all this gear in stash, depending on the matchup

And, you can also use CS + LS very effectively, with your range 5 weapon. Bah. Now i really wanna make a spearazon :D
