What's the best helm and armor for an Act 1 merc to use?
I prefer a denfensive merc that doesn't get killed easily.

anything you can find? lol...that's all i give my mercs is stuff that i've found...either that or they get my hand-me-down....when i find something better for me, they get what i was just using...

all my a1 mercs use dreams bv's.
equipping them with ice or faith and eth fort armor makes them look hawt.
they're dmg is low however compared to a2 mercs, but i like them over a2 still.

Maybe eth upped Shaftstop and a CoA both scoketed Ber or Um? That would be pretty expensive but your merc would take very little damage.

i dont think a1 mercs will even hit the str req for a CoA except for VERY high lvl or not even at all.
imo a1 mercs dont need dr as they're staying in the back anyhow.
i still think eth forts > eth shaft as they dont need dr.

Well, he just said he wanted his merc to survive, so I think having loads of DR would help for that. I have to agree that Fortitude would probably be better, but that is "offensive", KaosKane wants "defensive."

i have played with a1 mercs since joined a bit into this season and they have never died with my chars unless it counts when i die.
they all use the same equip:

weapon - faith / ice
armor - eth 3.5k forts
helms - dream bv

having more power can't hurt seeing they're defensive anyhow staying in the back while ur tanking for them rather then other mercs tanking for u.
if he wants some dr, all i can think of now is to switch the dreams out to a vgaze as it provides dr as well as ll even though she loses ~700 points of dmg.
