View Full Version : Paladins and Strength stat (my items give it, but...)

hey guys. I'm making a zealot/smiter, and need some advice on stats.

I have TGods (+20 str bonus, but 110 required to put on), HoZ (+20 str, 89 req), CoH (+20 str, 103 req), Dracs (+11 str, 50 req).

The max str req item I have is Guill Face at 115.

My problem is this: the +STR on my items is huge, but I can't put them on without having to put so many stat points in STR, that by the time I put them all on, my STR will be way beyond what it needs to be.

I have a full Sigon Set, but I would have to pump my STR to like 75 to use it! I had planned to use that until I got high enough level to put on all my other stuff. If I raised my STR to 75, it would be past 145 by the time I got my high level gear on, which would be a "waste" of 30 skill points.

Should I just bite the bullet and go for it? I mean, that's only 6 levels of skill points, and maybe I will find something with higher reqs that I want to use.

Or, do people commonly use +STR charms or some other glitch to get around this STR requirement? What do you all recommend?

thanks,

Brian

I do not recommend that you glitch your tgods and guillaume's. You should have enough str to take off TGod's and Guillaume's, and put them back on 1 by 1. If you are playing HC, disregard what I have said. ie, without putting on guillaume's, you should have 115 str, and without guillaume's and tgods, you should have 110. Otherwise, you might pop and lose 1/2 of your equip if you die twice.

Dracs have 11. If you pump your base strength at 79,then with dracs you'll go at 90. Hoz will take you to 110. Coh/tgods will take you to 150,so guil face can be equiped for a final 165 str after gear. 79 base strength for a non-enigma pally is very nice number.

I do the following.
Low lvl weapon with 6 fal runes = 60 str
use to wear items, then replace with normal melee weapon, the str from tgods etc will allow all items to be worn with almost base str allocated.
Works like a dream.

wow, the 6 fal runes is an interesting tactic. so, after you die, you would have to pick up that sword from your stash and equip it before you recover your corpse?

if I want to be guaranteed I never lose an item when trying to recover a corpse, I simply must have base STR (post-charms, I guess) enough to equip _any_ piece of gear I own?

I just dont wanna lose my TGods or CoH because I only have 80 str and try to pick my stuff up after I die, or something stupid like that. I don't understand the point above about "popping after dying twice." Sorry, I just reinstalled D2 after years of not playing...

Well in the case scenario I posted,If you die the pattern is this: You have 79 base str naked (assuming no charms/torches etc). The game recognises that you can equip dracs the moment you click your body. Str. goes to 90,then hoz can be equipped then the rest, one after one. One click and you retrieve your stuff.

heh, fast response. I was editing my post above while you were responding. So, I forget, the items that I cannot equip after death (say, my CoH), when I click on my corpse -- if my inventory is full, they just stay on the corpse, right?

I don't know what the other poster meant about dying multiple times and popping, losing your gear to the ground. The lack of knowledge scares me :)

errr, wrt the 6 fal suggestion, I play hardcore, how you pick up your body if you die is something I keep forgetting people do, sorry, maybe my suggestion does not work in sc.

Yeah by doing the fal'd weapon trick you are actually abusing the strength bug and it's pretty risky.

As mentioned above, I just keep enough base strength (plus what I get from charms) to equip any/all of my items without any being dependant on the others.
