1.) I finally traded a gull for a naga. This naga is 121 max dmg but some sorc said it sucked cause it has the mod "Adds 1-7 lightning damage". Is this true?

2.) Also, I still have my hell imbune to do...im level 82, what level should i do it at?

3.) I used that speeder guide and my barb doesnt do well in pvp, especially against hdins and other barbs. Is it my weapon dmg? I mean I get up to them, ww them, and little dmg is delt.

4.) What is one of the best overall PVP barb build? Lance? Axe? Mace? For overall, as in against every class.

5.) I have 2 skills to put on my barb, should I put them in shout? I have 7 in frw, 8 in nr, 5 in is, and 4 in shout.

6.) I want to own in duels but I am semi-poor. I have a level 86 zon for mfing but she sucks in hell, so just nm for her. I could also use this barb for mfing if you think I need to rebuild. I am sick of always getting owned! Lol.

Anyone who could help me out, I would appreciate it. I am still somewhat new to the game but all my builds have been failing. (86 cs zon, 74 foher, 82 ww(axe) baba).

I really love barbs so I would like a build for one as a hell dueler, not a LLD. Thanks for your time and sorry for my noobishness.

1.That Naga isn't to bad, for what you traded it for. Don't worry what other people say, if you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

2. The imbue has been debated to death, you get +4 lvl to the imbue, meaning if you imbue now at lvl 82, you will get a lvl 86 ilvl (I believe, that's right). Anyway it has been my experience that it really doesn't matter much over lvl 60. It can go either way, good or bad. I've seen lvl 90's imbue crap, and lvl 80 something imbue near godly stuff.

3. Were you going against other speeder Barbs? If they were BH Barbs with a sheild, that is to be expected. Never duel speeders against BH barbs. You will lose. Speeders are normally set up for casters.

4. Sadly, BH Barb's seem to be able to take on most. I would tell you how to make one, but I'm afraid I might puke while writing it.lol. Search for it.

5. 8 in NR?!?! Remake. Max BO, without a doubt. More into shout. Less in IS (if that is Iron Skin and not Increased Speed), unless you're making a Defence Barb. Look up Speeder Barb with the search feature for better placement of skills.

6. You need to check out the some of the builds in the stickies to see where you went wrong and how to rebuild. Owning in duels is not easy. You need good gear and skills.

All in all reading the guides and following them will get you the results you want. Gear can be switched, if you don't have what is listed. Fred's guides are mostly designed for those with non-godly gear and is very helpful. Understand now, that those WITH Godly gear will own you. To find that knid of gear takes a LOT of MF and time. Then you have to re-build around that gear. I wish you luck and hoped this helped.:thumbsup:

Find yourself a +1 to max damage(normal, act 1, Cold plains) ring and compare the difference between no ring on that slot or that +1 max damage.

This will at least show you the total damage difference. How much better it performs in duels, I can't tell you. But I guess it would make more then a little bit of a difference. Probably even quite a difference.

And about your imbue, 1 out of 20 imbues is ok, 1 out of 200 is godly.
Some people have more luck and thus a better ratio, but it all comes down to weather or not Diablo likes you. Obviously, Diablo doesn't like me. :)

Which speeder guide? IMO an ancient axe is the best, same req as naga so you can switch to a bvb switch easily. Also in some duels you can wield 2X naga for triangle wwing.


I would remake but not for the 8 in NR, thats fine, its just that defense is useless on a pvp barb, points are better in getting 40% inc speed, more NR, dmg etc. Only other case would be a bvb

They were talking about a 200+ dmg ancient axe. I have a 212 dmg AA with some other mods on it inculding poison dmg. If you are on US East SC Ladder and want to get together to trade hit me up.

I'm not much of a PvP'er as I told you today online. However in dueling with my friend Crazy I have learned one very intereasting thing. Against his barbarian I tend to do better when using a shield and a one handed weapon. In my case I used a battle hammer since I'm a mauler in PvM. Against Sorc's and other casters were blocking doesn't help then my Bonesnap worked better.

You say Duh I say my Barb in magic find gear using a 98 dmg BH and Eyeless smacked your barb around pretty well :tongue:

Now your sorc might be a different story, I haven't tried dueling you when your using her.

Crushing blow might help. Not sure how effective it is in PvP compared to PvM, but then again you saw how much my barb with a Bonesnap ate off your red orb in one WW and he is not set for PvP in genral. Just duel with him once and a while with friends for fun.

The other thing you might want to invest in is angelics ammy/ring combo for AR. A low AR in PVP means your not hitting as often as you could.

Vs barbs put on rare naga + twitch + sback + gtoe. You will beat the barbs, angelics if nessecary. A gear post would help out

I think a pure vita/def barb WITH NO WEAPON would kill you because you dont wear goblin toes (crushing blow) and angelics (attack rating)

my badly made crushing blow barb (bonesnap,rattlecage,goblins) can be easily killed by a pure life/def barb using no weapons (in some instances even no armor)

seriously, if you cant kill a necro in 2 ww-s then your barb sucks
(I dont think any necro could survive two wws even if he had duped items/ornate?+godly shield IF YOU WEAR ANGELICS)

Level 87 now, 3400 hp with bo, and still dying to barbs. Still no sback and if i switch off my shield and armor, my resis are going to hell.

Does twich really make a big difference?

What should I do against hdins? Stay in a corner and wait for them?

And bliz sorcs? Leap and ww - trying to guess their tele?

Necros? Go straight at them?

I still need a sback, maybe that will make a difference, but will my 120 naga be able to drop necro/sorc and dins in 1 ww?

Let me know, cause leveling is getting hard now, but i'll go to 99 if it means pwnage ;D

You don't need attack rating to kill a necro. They have no skills to boost defense, and thus, the most they'll realistically get is 300 from a grim shield, 250 from a grim helm, and 500 from a mageplate. Even with a 900def ornate, they'll still have around 1500 defense, easily hittable by 2000AR, which is very easy to achieve. Every barb should have at least 2500AR, and speeders should have at least 3000. 3000 is nice because it's easy to get from AR bonuses on a nice weapon and on 2 res rings. Some sorcs also try to defense, but they'll rarely get enough to tank barbs, especially without shout, and if it's team duels, you'll have someone else to take them out. Defense sorcs probably won't have much resist, and they won't do much damage either if they added to cold armors.

IMO, the most versatile PvP weapon is an executioner sword, not an ancient axe. I've also learned that nagas are very overrated. Sure they have a range of 3, but they also have terrible minimum damage. I'll take a 110-170 BH any day over a 50-140 naga.

THey are NKers but I managed to kill the sorc once :)

Btw, I was using naga the whole time, not my 212 AA.

Also, fc zons are hard and so are hammerdins. Any tips for them?

Thats what crushing blow does, it takes them down alot, but once they're down your damage goes down alot. Any angelic/gtoe barb can take a good barb to 1/4 pretty easily, but not win a duel.

Okay, I think that first idea you have is just getting cocky, but then again, if your Barb got killed by a Pure Life/Def Barb w/ the listed circumstances, then YOUR Barb must "suck." As for Calo, I think his Barb can be salvaged with a change of gear to Sback and Twitch with GToes.

And yes, necros and sorc are tanking my wws even when I am wearing angelics, sback, and gtoes. Problem is, with this setup, my resis are horrible..

Someone PLEASE tell me, what is the best overall build and I will build it, get level 95 on it and duel with it.

And yes, I know, each vocation has its flaws but what type wins alot of the duels? PLEASE do not tell me hdin cause I hate them.

Okay, you're in a jam, so I'll help you out here.

I decided to remake my BvA Axer which seems to do well against most opponents. Here's the gear I'm using now:

Helmet: 3-Socket PRuby Mask
Weapon: 6-Socket All PGems minus PDiamond Naga / The Gnasher
Shield: Swordback Hold / 3-Socket PDiamond Kite Shield
Armor: Twitchthroe
Gloves: Bloodfist
Boots: Goblin Toe / Rare 30 FRW + FHR + FR, CR Boots
Belt: Death's Guard
Amulet: Angelic Wings
Rings: Angelic Halo x 2

Attributes: 125 Str, Base Dex, Base Enery, Rest Vit

Skills: 20 WW, 20 BO, 20 Axe Mastery, 14 Increased Speed, 8+ Natural Resist, Rest Pre-reqs

I know Nagas only use 121 Str, but the 125 Str is so you can use an Ancient Axe for leveling purposes. With this character, you'll be able to on all opponents.

For Barbs, use your SBack + GToes. You should move faster than most Barbs due to your speed, so your strategy should be to hit and run to make them bleed from Open Wounds, then come in again and repeat the process. Also, dodging your opponent's WW and waiting until they've come to the end of their WW before coming in with your own is not a bad idea if you're taking too much damage. This comes in handy if you're using The Gnasher, which is a low damage Axe that gives Crushing Blow and Open Wounds, your main source of damage.

For Necs, keep your gear, but switch to your Rare FRW Boots so you can catch them even if they do use Decrepify on you.

For Sorcs, throw on your FRW Boots and switch your SBack with your 3-Socket PDiamond Kite Shield.

Against Multiple opponents...get creative, and use what you think will work. :grin:

For leveling purposes, you can use Sig's Helm + Gloves for Life Leech, and a Mana Leech Ancient Axe, or you can use dual leech gloves if you have them.

This is all very basic and cheap gear to being with, and you can upgrade to a better Naga, armor, shield, and jewelry if you so please.
