merc question-aura not showing??

I am in hell difficulty right now and I want to buy the act2 defensive defiance merc for the upped defesne. I was looking and you can buy them from hell or normal modes. I looked up their stats and the normal mode mercs actaully are better stat wise then the one hired in hell. So i made a normal game and gired one. No aura is showing/adding defense. can anyone tell what may be wrong??

Take him out into battle for a little bit. After a while of fighting, his aura should appear.

ok I'll give that a try. Since I am in hell mode and hiring a normal merc, does that affect anyhting?? or does it really not matter what difficulty you are in when you hire them? sorry I dont have much experience with mercs

When you hire a new merc, they're always somewhere near your level, so it's safe to bring him into Hell, assuming he has decent gear.
