Would this charger setup work?

Hi, I'm planning on making a PvP Caster-Killer Charger and I am looking for some insight(not the runeword) and suggestions.

Here is what I was thinking

Skills:
Charge 20
Might 20
Vigor 20
Salvation 20

Gear:
Beast(not sure what wep yet)
GA(Um)
Kiras(Um)
Tgods
Maras
Gores
4socket sheild with 30+res(4xpdiamond)
Bloodfists?
Dual Ravens/Dwarf

Stats:
Str: enough for gear(probably gonna str bug)
Dex: enough to use my wep
Vit: everything else
Energy: none

Make sure your shield is a high-block paladin shield.
Use bloodfists definitely.
Perhaps get Crown of Ages since your setup seems to lack massively in Damage Reduction...A near 50% is a must for PvP. On that note, perhaps opt for Dungoes and a ber HoZ--maybe use enigma as an armour to get a massive strength boost, thus more life? Ditch the Kiras, you can get resistances elsewere (charms) very easily.

As for rings, I would go with one Ravenfrost and base my stats (block) on that. Then make sure the second ring is exchangeable between Raven Frost, Wisp Projector, Dwarf Star.

Stats seem very well placed, no comments there.


As for beast, make it in an ettin axe if you can, the smaller range (2, compared to the zerker's 3) allows you to "hit more" with charge. Don't misunderstand me here, by this, I mean that you will hit quicker after the first blow, since the distance between you and your opponents after your first strike or attempt to strike will be smaller than if you used a range 3 weapon. Forget range 1 weapons, they are weak.

You might want to consider metal grid as an amulet if you are lacking AR, or perhaps even the angelic combination--AR is your lifeblood and weapon here.

As for your boots, if you can get a pair of tri resist, FHR, R/W boots, those would be ideal. Otherwise, note that gores arent always the best, waterwalks are still very nice with a massive life boost and a nice dex bonus. Treks will give you FHR, you'd want to hit 86FHR.

He will mainly be a caster killer so DR% is not top priority. I would try to get as near as 100% ow as possible too. Let them bleed as they try to tele away...

In that case, I suggest you stack up some nice resistances, at least 95 fire and lightning with some decent absorbption too. And do try to get OW if you can, as kingdryland said.

Instead of pdiamonds in the shield I'd try to make a sanctuary - it'll give you 50 - 70 res and a lot more helpful mods such as increased block and fhr. Fairly cheap too.

Another option here (budget allowing) is HoZ- unoriginal, but functional: Huge blocking, stats, nice skills, and if it um'd, 72 resis.


If you're in a situation where DR would be handy (vs bowazons for instance) you could have a shaftstop (shael'd?) and a string of ears ready to switch out for a very cheap 45% DR, and you won't miss the resis for that fight.

If I may ask, why Beast? I'd like to hear your reasoning behind it, I'm building a charger myself.

even wit hsalvation aura on, grief is better imo. if he wanted an active aura, might as well go Last Wish. it gives life tap AND fade (extra resist)
i also wouldnt bother going with maxed salvation. id rather go 1 point salvation since you save skill points (pallies can super stack resistance even without salvation. be sure to sink the rest of your points into smite/fanaticism so that you have something to kill the caster with when you charge it wont let you charge again (when it doesnt knock the player back so you hit him with normal attack instead of charge.)

Interesting- I hope this isn't too much of a thread hi-jack, but while we're discussing weapons (and since I've been building a similar charger myself), does anyone have an opinion on the viability of a Doom BA if I didn't use salvation as my active aura? I'm liking the mods, and holyfreeze is just icing on the cake for bowazons/trappers. Not sure whether I should bother synergizing it or not.

In response to occam, i long while back i ran into a very good holy freeze charger, who literally own'ed everything in the room. He used a polearm wep (botd war pike or somthin like that) and used a high -enemy res doom on switch to catch anyone trying to run. He used 20/-5 nightwing 20/-20 98 life armor, other cold enhancing type items. I dont know how well doom would do as a main attacking wep, but i know its a nice switch item to have around if you go the hf route for a charger.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it above on previous posts. But a sanctuary made into a Elite paladin-class shield with 40+ res already on it could give you from 90-110 Res. Caster shield? i think so

True, pala sanc sheild will probably provide THE most resistance but to remain on a budget, a 3 os pala sheild with 30+ resistance costs quite a bit since there are those out there who prefer to make Dragon's and Dream's out of those sheilds instead of a Sanc. Personally I'd stick with a Um'd Hoz (low % one works just as fine as a perf one since def isnt a big priority) that way you'll get stats, skills, and resist, as well as a high block rate just incase...
