Help unrecoverable internal error

Good evening

For the fifth time tonight, I have got:
Halt
Location: line #422
Expression: unrecoverable internal error 056G2ce3

Once on bnet (open) the other four times playing IP/TCP (on two separate computers, both hosts crashed).

This has happened on the Areat Summit when trying to kill the three guys on NIghtmare level.

Running completely unmodded, fully uptodate versions of D2.

This has happened before (about the same place in Normal IIRC) but only the once, nothing like this.

Any suggestions apart from the usual reinstall, please?

Unfortunately, reinstallation is one of the main solutions to this problem.


First though, you could check to see what your video settings are. Have you tried running the game on DirectDraw mode? Do you have sound and music on?

Something else you might want to try is deleting the bncache.dat file, in your Diablo 2 installation directory (it'll be re-created again when you log back onto battle.net). This wouldn't explain why you're getting the error in single player though, but it's worth a shot.

Same story as everyone else, but I am playing single player, and I only get this crash with one character (a low-level assasin). No mods, no hacks, no network, and this doesn't happen with any other characters.

Any suggestions?

Whoa! Blast from the past!

It's Cloak of Shadows causing the problem I think. Don't use it.

(I'm also single player. I run vanilla and rwm/rrm separately now.)

Thanks for the suggestion. It makes sense, because my assassin is only level 20 and Cloak of Shadows is about all she has going for her right now.

Any more info on this bug?

CoS Bug (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=545166) Basically, it sucks and there is nothing you can do about it but try to beat them fast, don't use CoS, and don't use a shadow (or at least don't give her the opportunity to use CoS).
