I just thought it would be cool if there was a ring that allowed you to socket a jewel, obviously only one and they would have to spawn pretty rarely or else everyone would be running around with two 40/15 rings. What do you think?

And of course you'd need to find an 'empty ring' to put the facet in.The drop rate should be something like tyreals but even more rare then... and even then i think they will be found in massive ratio... only in europe there are already a few million D2 gamers...

though the idea is nice and should be only be able to get socketed with specific jewels then... Only rare jewels orso, the statistics on rare items are never the same so then u will get really unique kind of rings...
Though when it should be only able to socket them with rare jools then the drop ratio can be like normal items IMO...

Anyway, I think its a good idea, jewels are used very rarely nowadays, except for the facets of course....

I see it like this:
I loved themed sets, and this would be the ultimate theme IMHO. Eve's ring is socketable which open a whole can of worms on what you can do with a ring and make the set a little flexible. I would say for socketing purposes the ring should be treated like armor. Aka you could stick a cham in and have CBF. this is the main sacrifice made to wear this set. If you wear the whole thing you have to get cbf somewhere else besides a Raven Frost.

I love how when people create new items/sets, they always create incredibly overpowered items. Curse immunity? Come on. Massive... Oh, bah, nevermind.

I think that the bonuses outweigh the negatives... particularly with the auras. However, it's more balanced than the last one was. :rolleyes:

Hahah yeah I myself had a quiet chuckle when I was making those. Imagine in a PK pub; have everybody hostiled and end up doing melee'ing into 8 Dragon Flights and hitting every single character out there.

Of course there's somebody who'll survive and get hit twice...or during the midst of the numerous flights someone tries to get their body ends up being NK'd by a Chuck Roundhousing Dragonflight.

Hahah yeah I myself had a quiet chuckle when I was making those. Imagine in a PK pub; have everybody hostiled and end up doing melee'ing into 8 Dragon Flights and hitting every single character out there.

Of course there's somebody who'll survive and get hit twice...or during the midst of the numerous flights someone tries to get their body ends up being NK'd by a Chuck Roundhousing Dragonflight.

Not overpowered I guess.
First, AFAIR, there is no more 50 % PI in 1.11. Secondly I am talking about elemental resistance not physical.
in normal difficulty, until lvl 30, no char has Lower resist skill. So a 0% resist will stay a 0% resist.
In hell, only high resist monster would suffer from it but low resist would become immune or high resist monsters. Only interest would be ubers.

Honestly, I'd just like to see a nearly impossible to complete "Unique Set" involving all unique items from helm to boots that when equipped give certain other attributes, but only useful enough to be just a bit more powerful than having the already overpowered runewords, and to additively make the wearer look completely different from the rest of all of the characters. Such as the previously mentioned Tyreal morph. This would work nicely ONLY if each of the unique items used to make the set would only drop say 100 times in a given ladder season.... period.... and each item will only drop while partied with, or if you character hits, level 99. Whatever monster killed gives that last experience to the lvl 98 character to turn him into level 99 will drop the item. There is still the chance a lower level char can grab it.

Since getting to level 99 in itself is hard, but still not hard enough for some. It will make the game more fun for the people who baal for 5 weeks straight to gain 1 level. At least in my head it would... I lose interest in a character after level 9, so who am I to judge.

Let's just agree that nothing will change in the game from this point forward. There' s a better chance of D3 coming out than a new "useful" patch or any new items introduced to the game.

The game has built-in solutions available for "poisoned" and "frozen" status...potions (not many people use antidote and thawing potions, but they're there). There is no solution for "cursed" (other than shrines:rolleyes: ) It'll never happpen, but it'd be nice to be able to de-cursify yourself with a potion or charged magic item. This isn't saying that the idea of curse length reduction is bad, just that there should be both ways.

Cannot be poisoned does exist for a fact of matter.

Just activate a poison resistance shrine and walk in front of the councils waterguards, of a poisonnovanecromancer or andariel. They can't do a single damage or even turn you green for 30 (? or was it 45?) seconds.

As for an idea for a new unique ring, hm, how about this:

Yeah I know that, but the aura only becomes active after the chance has triggered, I don't know how else to put it instead of cast.

Besides, we're talking hypothetical dream items here, what's there to know about? :rolleyes:

Paladin auras cannot be "casted" afaik. Exile,dream,hoj etc grant an active aura while the item is equipped.
They can be set as charges, though.

Yep it's too overpowered. In retrospect I think the set would be overpowered with just one socket in the amulet. How about plain grey single socketed rings and ammys?

It's not a new unique or anything, more like a new item, a talisman, to protect against curses and you can only wear only one at the time and it would only protect against one curse. One for amp, one for decrypt and so on. Ofc it would also need a new inventory slot

there already is a way to reduce curse lenght: the paladin cleansing aura. Mine has lvl8 cleansing, which reduces poison&curse length by 67%
so, stop whining about curses, party up with a pally and ask them to use cleansing...

Do you REALLY think most players on Bnet would do that? Many of them probably don't even have a point in the aura. Besides, there isn't always a paladin around to provide that aura anyway.

In that case, I want a weapon that gives Cleansing when equipped so I can put it on my weapon switch. It's not like Paladins use their defensive auras in practice anyways.

Cleansing is a prerequisit for vigor, which is a synergy for blessed hammer, which is the most popular palladin build, so I guess most paladins have at least 1 point in it. Add +skills and you're curse/poison duration will be very significantly shortened.
I agree with Zoltok though, any "+ xlvl cleansing aura when equipped" item would make for a very nice merc item (or in case of weapons a weapon switch)

It would be stackable too, meaning if you had 4 SoH's in your inventory, you would have 400% to charges, and so on.

They already have a very cheap cube recipe to do it with, for chrissake :P

Although, I agree with you - they haven't done much with charges after they put them into the game, just put really expensive ones on easy to make runewords...hm.

What about using soh to cleanse a Soulstone shard (small charm).
The shard would contain the essence of a slain enemy, and would grant powers based on the captured essence. Along Diablo storyline I guess that it should only work with demons, but it would be more interesting if working with all monsters.
To capture the essence one would need to have the empty soulstone in inventory and kill the desired enemy. It could be even possible to 'reset' the shard with the Hel+tp recipe.

As an example, capturing the essence of a Gorebelly could give +str and some crushing blow, while capturing the essence of a Gloam could increase Lightning Damage or increase Lightning skill (+2) (good for sorcs or tesladins) and the essence of a Hierophant could increase cold damage or even increase Blizzard (+2).
Capturing a Vampire essence could increase Meteor/Fireball and so on...

Act bosses (Diablo, Mephisto, Baal, not Duriel, not Andariel) may have a chance of dropping soulstone shards, or Uber bosses could drop them instead, depending on how powerful these small charms may be intended to be.
