BvB setup

Back in the day i had a BvB toon that was all str very low vit dex for max block with like 4X% LL n mad DR. are they still viable specs in the newage of BvB duelling?

however with new items like Grief n such does str matter a whole hell of a lot? like back in the day i used to use a Fury Legend sword cuz it was faster than Coll Blades n did quite well

no a barb build like that does not work anymore , a Titan Barb.

The reason why they do not work anymore is leech in PvP has been heavily nerfed and is almost usless.

A typical BvB puts enough str to wear gear, possibly rellying on torch anni to give the str needed for equiping, enough dex to achieve max block and mana stays at base lvls, no point here And every thing else goes to life.

A typical weapon for a BvB now is Grief.

so i'm guessing pb for Grief since its a -30 speed wep to start as a zerker is a 0 speed and pb has a higher average dmg than zerker?

also i'm guessing Fort prolly for armor, GoA n Verd belt, SS or Phoenix shield, arreats or vamp helm, raven ring n some other LL ring for a good start?

only feasible shield is SS with Phoenix u will get owned with this on as u need max block and dr and to get maxblock on this shield will cost 300+ dex points at lvl 90 which will seriously gimp ur life size.

Also leech is worthless the ideal setup is a high attack ratting setup using 2x angelic rings + amu for huge ar as well as a demonlimb enchant.

Here is a typical BvB setup;

Grief
SS
Gore riders
Verdungos belt
Draculs gloves
Arreat helm OR Gulleme's face socketed with 40ed + 9str or 40/15
2x angelic ring
angelic amu
Fortitude armour or Duress

Armour

Fortitude is my personal choice because of the high dmg it gives, however i u use a Duress u can build a Bar which deals most dmg in openwounds which is a usefull technique for long duels and does alot of dmg over time i.e for the best OW dmg u will need to reach lvl 90 +. This is alos a good choice setup as in bvb u do not land many hits so doing dmg like this over 8 seconds and the fact that OW is unresistable makes it a strong attack.

Open Wounds Duration: 200 frames (that is 8 seconds).

The damage per frame seems to be the following (where Clvl is the attackers level, that is the player's level usually):
Clvl=1-15: (9*Clvl+31)/256
Clvl=16-30: (18*Clvl-104)/256
Clvl=31-45: (27*Clvl-374)/256
Clvl=46-60: (36*Clvl-779)/256
Clvl=61-99: (45*Clvl-1319)/256

If you prefer per second, just multiply by 25:
Clvl=1-15: 25*(9*Clvl+31)/256
Clvl=16-30: 25*(18*Clvl-104)/256
Clvl=31-45: 25*(27*Clvl-374)/256
Clvl=46-60: 25*(36*Clvl-779)/256
Clvl=61-99: 25*(45*Clvl-1319)/256

Some examples:
Clvl 10: 11.8 per sec over 8 seconds for a total of 94.5 damage. Clvl 30: 42.6 per sec over 8 seconds for a total of 340.6 damage. Clvl 50: 99.7 per sec over 8 seconds for a total of 797.7 damage. Clvl 70: 178.8 per sec over 8 seconds for a total of 1430.5 damage. Clvl 90: 266.7 per sec over 8 seconds for a total of 2133.6 damage.
Also, the damage is divided by 4 for a player target. In addition, for a missile versus a player target one should divide the damage by 8 instead.

It is possible to get up to 100% chance for Open Wounds. Anything above 100% is discarded.

Helm wise arreat is nice to use but a Guillaume's Face gives nice crushing blow as well as deadly strike which can help give a high chance of hitting with a strike with double the dmg.

No i think Bezerker Axe has the higher average dmg but it definetly has the range advantage as a pb is only range 2 compared to BA which is range 3

Most barb use ba grief. IF the grief on ba has 34 or more atk its the same as pb but with more range, dmg, and trade value.
