View Full Version : .08 Lidless exist on NL?

I noticed that .08 lidless has something like 25% poison absorb. version 1.08 only lasted like 3 months, and i'm not sure anyone picked up on how valuable this item could have been so they probably let their mule expire and there may not be any left. Has anyone see one in existance? Any idea what the value in sojs this would be on East? I'm interested in this because i'd like to make a completely useless block/absorb/DR/max resist/high def char for tanking. (mainly to let my friends level quickly in norm and nm and maybe hell if it will work, and just walk away and watch tv :smiley: )

I think the 1.08 lidless had poison absorb per level, 0.5% I believe. I don't know if any of them are still around though.

Edit: Oh, 1.07 Lidless was the same, if I remember correctly.

This is the 95% of the time, I believe you are. Although come to think of it Orphan, I've never seen the other 2% myself, at least in my posts. :tongue: Either way if anyone has either heard of one existing, or has one for trade, I'd like to know if the absorb is worth the trouble.

Think of it this way. If there was a paladin with say lvl 35 cleansing active, had on deaths hand and irathas collar and was faded from treachery, would it even matter if there was poison absorb in pvm? I have no idea what the duration and poison damage is with pvm poison. Is there somewhere I can find out this info?

Set aside that example with the paladin, and i took a barb into the chaos sanctuary... taunted all surrounding monsters towards me... but i still have deaths hand and irathas collar?

Also, its been forever and a day since I've played classic. Does all of the monster damage differ from classic to expansion? Could i get away with the same irathas and deaths and maybe jade tan do kris on? I'm sure the lack of pdr would annihilate me, but still. any thoughts on any of this?

Well, first it's important to note that there are two factors that are used to determine how much damage you take with poison. First, there's the poison damage per second, and then there's the duration. You sort of need to treat these as seperate entities.

Poison resistance helps to reduce the poison damage per second, but it doesn't affect the poison duration. Poison length reduction affects the duration, but doesn't directly affect the poison damage. Of the two, poison length reduction is more important, because it determines how long the poison shall remain on you, but ultimately you'll want both to be near max.

Like poison resistance, each character has a hidden "poison duration" resistance. It starts out at 0% on normal, and suffers the same -40% and -100% on NM and Hell. Also, the poison duration resistance is capped at 75%. This means that in order to reach maximum "poison duration" resistance on hell, you would need 175% poison damage reduction.

The cleansing skill's poison length reduction is treated the same as item-based poison length reduction, and thus stacks.

If you could get 75% (or 95%) poison resistance and 75% poison reduction, then I would imagine that any extra poison absorb would be sort of fruitless.


As for classic, I know that the monster's HP there is less than the expansion, and I'm confident that the damage is too. At the moment, I have a level 55 classic barbarian who's up to Act 4 Hell, and he's still wearing 2 sigons parts, some rare gloves and armor, and a "Humongous" unique Giant Axe.

the poison absorb mode dissapeard on the 1.08 liddless walls when 1.09 came out.(it is sad but true, otherwise i had one myself against poisonmancers/poisonzons)

The poison absorb that was on Lidless was supposed to be straight absorb, but the mod never worked anyway. IIRC Blizz used the same code as the other absorb types for it, but poison works very differently.

Has anyone actually seen a v1.08 (or v1.07) version of Lidless Wall (Exceptional Unique Grim Shield)?
Would be very interested if anyone can actually post the stats they have seen...



We mean no disrespect, but are you guys positive that v1.08 Lidless Wall has poison absorb?

I have almost all v1.08 elite/exceptional/normal unique/set items printed out (all 3" of A4 paper...), and have the *.MHT file saves of the Blizzard v1.08 version of Arreat Summit...

Both of these say the same stats for v1.08 Lidless Wall:
(i did not notice any poison absorb)...

Defense: 90-270 (varies)(Base Defense: 50-150)
Required Level: 41
Required Strength: 58
Chance to Block: Pal: 50%, Ama/Asn/Bar: 45%, Dru/Nec/Sor: 40%
Durability: 40
Paladin Smite Damage: 14 To 20
+80% Enhanced Defense
50% Faster Block Rate
+4 To Light Radius
+5 To Energy
+5 To Vitality
+5 To Dexterity
+5 To Strength


Also, these same set of pages listed the Stormshield as Elite Unique Aegis (not Monarch) Shield, so I'm pretty sure that my info is v1.08 ...

Also, I've recently gotten the v1.07 version of Radament's Sphere (Exceptional Ancient Shield Unique), and it was also exactly the same specs as specified in my above 2 sources of info...

(I'm currently doing v1.07 item hunting, so I've studied this sort of info too...)

ATMA lists psn absorb among the other mods, as well as several other mods afaik that are nonsense. But use it ingame, and it doesn't show and presumably doesn't exist.

Wangnala, the stats you list are exactly (although mine has a pdiamond in) what my shield shows to have ingame.

I suspect there are a few very specific version's items that ATMA has trouble decoding...

You above is an example...

Also, my v1.06 Iceblink (when character is upgraded to v1.07) keeps getting interpreted by my ATMA v5.3 with Fastest Cast Rate, and corrupts your character too to boot...

I've got a 1.07 rare skull cap from act 1 normal with mods like +1light radius +15ar that ATMA says has a lvl req of 72 or 3:grin:

Because of the ED%, the base shield willl have max defense +1. In this case, it'll have 150 defense + 1 (151). 151 defense * 1.8 = 271 defense.
