Okay I get a message that says:

Halt
Location, line 143
unrecoverable internal error 6f8e7a15

Game was working just fine this morning and the past week although I did noticed a bit more lag than usual. This error happens only when I try to load a character on battlenet. I can load my account, access my character list, and when I click on any character to access the chatrooms the game locks up. When I alt-tab out of the game I see this message. I also tried to create a new character, and the game locked up when pressing "ok" after choosing the character name.

Anyone else seen this before??

Have you tried to create a new account, to see if the same error occurs? It's likely that it will, but it'd be a nice test.

Do you have sound enabled or disabled?

I take it you haven't tried a complete re-install yet, right?

Yea I tried the new account.. no luck. And switching realms won't work either. Hmm I could try switching off the sound maybe.. I don't see what difference it could make though it has never been much of an issue. The only problems I've had in the past were directx9 glitches that caused the game to crash. I'll try the full re-install tomorrow if it still doesn't work (I'm hoping it may be Bnet related, having nothing to do with my PC).

I was thinking more-so if the sound was already turned off, then it *might* have caused a problem.

Most of the "Halt" errors that I've seen in the past usually involve the game's inability to read the game CD. I'm hoping that this is not the case here, and perhaps it's just a case of a file being corrupted (or registry entry).

I don't think it's battle.net, because I logged on just now quickly and it seems to be working fine over here. Likewise, since it's happening to you regardless of the realm you're on then it'll most likely be something about your installation.

Hmm well the corrupted file seems the most plausible cause for the crash here. I just tried the windows system restoration to a few days ago and it didn't work. I'll try to re-install tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the fast replies by the way

Well, at least it's working.

Did you download any mods, or other third party programs?

Nope.

Although I did use a software that helped *facilitate* my meph runs

But that can't be the cause for the crash... or at least it seems not because I've used the thing a thousand times before.

That would be a third party program, honey.
