first off what are bots, secondly what all does maphack do, and finally what are the pros and cons of these? i have heard that if blizzard finds outs you use them you lose your account, is this true? what are the pros and cons of the two? and are these in any way related to hack and cheats that people use to scam. i know it's a lot questions with a lot of long answers but i think this information will help a lot new players such as myself. thank you very much for all of your replies.

I'm going to speak global here

Maphack:
Pro for the user:
- You'll never get addicted to D2, since you'll probably be banned from battle.net before you reach that point
- Lack of skill need not be an issue with you anymore

Pro for the rest of us:
- After a MH user gets banned, there's some extra bandwidth and character names available for the rest of us

Con for the user:
- You'll never get addiction to D2, since you'll probably be banned from battle.net before you reach that point
- You'll never learn to actually play the game

Con for the rest of us:
- Who knows, you might have been a nice person

This forum doesn't support hacks, do it's best not to ask around here :wink3:

Bots are used by people so they don't have to be there while the game is playing. Usually to gather up items for trading and use.

Maphack is a device used to show the maps.

Both are 3rd party programs and illegal by Blizzards standards (which you agree to when you play online - offline do whatever you want it's your computer)

Both are bannable if and when you are caught using them, plus both are well known to have viruses, keyloggers, and other nasty things in them just waiting to be activated.

So all in all, it's best just to not deal with them at all and play the game the way it was meant to be playeed, sitting in front of your computer screen for hours on end till you feel like killing the stygian dolls and black souls just like everyone else.

Additionally, you may not only lose your account, but you CD key, too.
