I was wondering how to trade for Torch's cuz I know that they can't be put into the trade screen. This dude wanted me to go out of town to trade but I dont want my crap stolen. so I was just wondering if there was a proper way to do this or if I want the Torch I just have to risk it. Thanks
Far best is to buy it here on the Trading Forums (http://forums.diabloii.net/forumdisplay.php?f=21) from a respectible and "know to be fair" trader. As you still have a low postcount most will want you to drop your payment first but a 300+ poster is very unlikely to scam you. Never seen it happen and done 3-4 torch trades here myself, pure drop in open town even letting them mule the torch wile I get the right char for it ... it's mostly about trust ...

If you happen to want to trade with another person that also has a low postcount, you might want to consider asking someone to mod the trade for you to ensure that you don't get cheated.
becareful, though with mods, one time someoen was trading me an anni from this forum, made a new account called op-diinet or somthing, lvl 1 barb n posed as a mod, im new to that channel but the regulars there told me it was a fake so thats good. i unno be careful, however i did do 2 succesful torch trades, one being a storch

Generally, be careful with high torches. If it is a 10/10 assassin, druid or necro torch, you can be less careful about it.
Do note that there is a risk involved, even in the forums.

It's located right below your name on the left. You, for example, have a current post count of 14.
A trade mod is someone who watches over a trade and makes sure both parties get what they agreed to. Often done with drop trades. Both parties will give their items to the mod and the mod checks to make sure the items are what was previously agreed upon. Then the mod gives person A's items to person B and person B's items to person A.
Don't just pick any random mod though. We dont necessarily mean using the mods on these forums, since I doubt they will have time, but try asking for people who have high post counts, or people who have done many trustworthy trades.

when doing drop trades with people, ALWAYS go for torch for torch trades unless ur confident enough. and ALWAYS ALWAYS do the trade in act 1 in town, never do it any where else.
or, u be a really good/close friend with a godly player with tonnes of torches/item mules and all that - that's how i got some of my stuff :P.

Usually pretty active traders on these forums are trustworthy. I usually look for people with more than 200 posts. Also if they have multiple items to trade then I get a little more assurance that they will be less likely to rip someone off.

so what u guys r saying is to make a post in the trade forum saying that i want to trade for torch and only trade w/ ppl who have 300+ post correct?
so what u guys r saying is to make a post in the trade forum saying that i want to trade for torch and only trade w/ ppl who have 300+ post correct? More or less yeah. If you still feel unsure of a trader you can do an advanced search for previous posts made by that user in the trade forum and read a bit to see if he seems trustable.
If you stick around in a trade forum long enught you will get to know the peaple. Knowing the one you are trading with is what makes a trade feel safe in the end ...

What I would do, if it was something like torch, or even anni, is I would track the posts of the person across the forums. This allows you to see what the person is like (or at least pretending to be). So... You'll know what you're trading for from a person who you know what they are like.
I butchered that whole paragraph. WTB GRAMMAAR, drop trade only.

but beware of some people that scam u here on the trading forums. i prefer doing drop/mule trades with people that volunteer first or have 1000++ posts here :P
All good solid advice, but just one more small point that needs to be mentioned.
I have heard about people pretending to be forum members, by creating account names that are very similar to real forum members. If you're unsure, get them to make a quick post in your trade request thread, so that you can verify their identity.

I have six torches (all classes except sorc)
All was traded here on the european trade forum and all was dropped for me on the floor an i drop payment on the floor.
It is very trustworthy forum :) and i am enjoying it very much.
BTW NEVER AND I MEAN NEVER TRADE FOR SOMETHING OUTSIDE THE TRADE SCREEN ON BATTLE NET.
in 9999 of 10000 cases you will lost your stuff when you put it on the floor :)
But that forum is way different
