Need some advice for Nihlathak

Hi,

I need some advice for killing Nihlathak.
Finding him is not a problem.
I'm a meteorb sorc and I want to take care of him rather fast in my MF runs.
If I go slow and kill some minions I can take care of him but what are your techniques to do it quickly?

I haven't ran Nihlathak with a Meteorb sorc before....but I would have to say the best way to do it is kill him quickly before he can cast the dreaded CE. Just tele down and go into a corner and drop them bombs on him......he should go down fairly quickly. If you kill him first there's no one left to cast CE and kill you! Hope this helps!!!

Nihlathak's minions are cold immune (unbreakable by infinity), so the orbs won't work at all.
In general, to use a meteorb to run Nihlathak, you need Nature's Peace (or something with "slain monster rest in peace"), a merc that can tank, and extra caution (comparing to other more suitable chars). The general strategy I use is to teleport close enough to him, then step back a few yards so that your merc will attract all monsters and the corpse explosion near him won't hurt you, and then start to spam meteor. You'll need a few runs to know the best distance between you and nihlathak. What you want is that you have a safe buffer from from merc so the CE won't hurt you, and you can still name-lock nihlathak to spam meteor. Unless you're strong and comfortable with the runs, take away the weapon from your merc, so that you'll do all the killings with nature's peace to minimize the possibility of CE.

I did virtually the same as above, until I realized that my IK barb can run him 10 times safer. If you have any class that has good crowd control, use that instead of sorc. Or, you can try equiping your merc with Tyreal's might or lawbringer.

Natures peace makes this so much more possible. I used my 10k fb firesorc and bombed his necro-wannabe *** straight to hell. Since your a medeorb, your probably doing less damage. What you could do is shoot a medeor at him only then shoot fbs round minions till you kill one or two. Then tele to oppisite side and do again. Then do again. He should go down in a few medeors.

Tele right next to nihlathak, in the middle of the crowd, then start spamming FB. He should die pretty instantly, as long as you've got decent fcr and damage (110/8k sould do I reckon).

im playing a meteorber wearing tals and i jsut threw on a natures peace. since then ive been able to tele into the corner and spam meteors and fireballs ever closer wiping minions as i go only takes about 30 seconds to actualy kill him and hsi minions once you hit the corner. hope this helps.

actually i'm more in favour for a pure lite sorc doing nihlathak runs.

but in this case, i think it would be better if u had a very good tankable merc and u had max block rate.

tele right in front of nihlathak, and drop meteors on him. having the merc and max block will saveguard u from his surrounding cold immune minions.

teleing right in the centre of the bunch of monsters can be better, because u really DO NOT want to tele near or next to a bunch of lizards, those things killed me many times more than nih lol.

:thumbsup: I agree! I actually use my Full Tal's pure light sorcy as my key runner for all. She's fast, efficient and rarely dies! Add a Holy Freeze merc to her and she is almost unstoppable. Nith has no chance against Fed Ex.

I'm not so sure the max block + merc tank approach is a good one. If your merc kills a slayer while you're whittling away at the crowd, you're as good as dead due to relatively low vita.

Actually more recently I've been using a javazon anyway, instant death for everything nearby, and found a vex last night in halls of pain. Good XP, good dr, max block, good damage, all I can't do is tele which isn't that much of an issue considering how easy it is to reach nihlathak.
