View Full Version : Lidless VS Mosers
What do you guys think is better? A lidless Diamond, Or a Mosers Diamond Diamond. This could sound weird to you because most people use lidless but I am building a Chain/orb sorc, i usaully use wizzie for my sorcies but i want to use occules this time so ithougt of mosers to add the missing resist i usually have.
What do you guys think are the cons and pro's of each shield?

Well, Moser's without a doubt 63 all res beats all. That gives you more options in the rest of equipment.

well I have to be different again, resist can be handled with a torch, anni, charms. Probably you other gear will give you resist and that together with the resists from your torch/anni (occu) and charms, will give you enough.
That's why I choose liddles, the 1 to skills will boost your damage pretty darn nice, together with the fastercast will make you godlike.
So my 2 cents, just stick with the liddles ;)

well, if you're not rich enough for a torch, anni and res all charms (or want to save the inventory space for mf charms/ w/e) I would say that mosers is better. (but actually I'm still looking for a mosers and I use a stormchaser, which only has 50% lightning resist. )

If you are ladder, I would use neither. Spirit pwns lidless big time. If you are NL, I would probably go with mosers, since it is better than what little that lidless can offer you anyways (unless you really need that for the breakpoint).

You can go defensive: Mosers gives huge resistances and nice blocking, and can be socketed with 2 things by choice.
You can go offensive: Lidless gives more damage and more mana to use those skills.
Those are my thoughts (most people like to play offensive at all costs, I'm a more defensive but fast and irritating person)
i am ladder but i dont agree with spirit,i thinki i will use mosers

I really like Spirit but very difficult to wear on a sorc. when trying to achieve high str. req...
This is my solution, I use mosers with 2 diamonds for safety, and lidless on switch if I need FC breakpoint.
Otherwise, I have a Rhyme or Mila. shield on switch for MF

i am ladder but i dont agree with spirit,i thinki i will use mosersIt's only 156 str. You get vit, +2 skills, mana, resist, whooping 35 FCR. What is not to like? Make it up with life charms if you must. You need at least 95 str for travs already, and you have +22 vit bonus on spirit, which makes up partially for the 156 str. After the +10 str on travs as well, you are effectively losing only 29 * 2 = 58 points of life. That's about 3 sc's. Think about the people who use stormshield AND max block...... :wink3:

Mosers wins hands down, There is a reason why HC players laugh at anybody with lidless...

i use an umed lidless, i find for a sorc resists are not as important as it is for melee characters, i just make sure i dont get hit

Lidless is practically useless. Spirit shields are much more cheap and effective than Lids for nonblock sorcs. Strictly Lid vs. Mosers, Mosers 100%.

yes there is a reason. that reason is that they are scared stiff of dying. if you dont mind dying, then go with umd/pdiamond lidless. if you dont mind spending str points go with spirit. res can be made up for easily by anni/torch/charms as mentioned earlier. also, if you find yourself going for max block, click delete on your sorc please. if you get hit, you shouldnt be playing a sorc (im talking pvm here)

By the same logic, go base vita and max energy without using ES. This will boost your energy regeneration and you don't lose anything as only noobs get hit. Skillers with life or fhr are for pvp and noobs, gg players have frw so their sorcs travel through town faster. If you go base vita and max energy on a non ES sorc, click delete on your sorc please. If you don't, l2p? /sarcasm
Aside from the stupid comment, I agree max block is pointless on a pvm sorc with access to spirit as if you just ensure you hit the 105/86 breakpoints and get moderate life and decent light res you'll be able to take everything the game can throw at you happily.
In terms of quite far from perfect 3/4 charms, 55 fhr on spirit = 11x15scs or 5x31gcs, 165 or 155 boable life. 22 vita = ~22 boable life. That fhr is the only major source among likely pvm sorcwear as well, along with boots at 10-20 so it's not going to be wasted.
In terms of stats, the points not going in vita to get 156 str for (non eth, and eth last well on sorcs honestly, I've pretty much totally converted now) monarch = ~60 str (most pvm sorcs seem to wear travs at 95 str afaik or treks at though 91/81 though the treks give +15) = ~120 boable life
It also has more res than a pd'd lidless, more fcr, more skills, more mana - everything but more def you just lose some def, generally ~150 though potentially as little as 20.

Try to pull that off with a melee sorc

I personally went for zeal, but it all works out in the end :D. but as it worked out i chose neither of these shields. with an eschuta + spirit i got the 63fcr bp i needed. (left the rest of my gear available for whatever.) oh, and gotta love using an eth upped skullders XD

Reminds me of an old FO/zealot that I had. Had SS on 1 switch for max block, and spirit on other (w/o maxed block).

Spirit beats any non block shield anytime but if it was between lidless and mosers, moser would be better

Lidless sucks. The only builds I'd ever stick one on is a Necro or a Javazon, and even then there's better choices.
And for Diablo's sake, don't waste or even recommend burning an Um rune on a Lidless...
If you can play a sorc and never get hit then you are truly an unbelievable D2 player. :wink3:
Moser's is a great little shield. Upgraded it's pretty nice, too.

if you are stupid enough to say "going for 156 str is dumb" like me and regrat about that later lidless just for the fcr sake. +1 skills is a cute bonus too.
but overall mosers>lidless.
2 sox are just an awesome thing

Nice to see good info. still be tossed around on this thread.
I presently am using Mosers with p/d's on my sorc and lf zon (just not a rich player obviously) in hc hell. I have no problems running cows with zon or mfing andy/mephy with sorc.
However, like Anime stated a long time ago, spirit shield is a gr8 option, and I found that out after his suggestion back in 06.
