I have always loved the druid (my first character was a druid) and I have always wanted to make a windy, however for some reason i always put it off. I think my next character will be a windy and im just wondering which would be the better summon to use as a windy a bear or wolves?

I personally use a Grizzly Bear. He and my merc can tank anything (unless it's an IM caster that is).

It's preference, most like bears, I always liked wolves.

for a windy, id try with griz/raven combo. the merc and griz could tank while the ravens could blind stuff keeping some of the heat off your merc and griz

I just saw this thread- and I wanna ask something:
Although I never really liked elemental druids more than Shifters, it makes me curious- If I am going for a Griz/Raven combo like harley98 said, how many ravens should I have, and how many points should I invest in spirit/dire wolves(Because those skill points will, of course, come on behalf of points in wind skills- Hurricane synergies)?
Thanks:thumbsup:

If I am going for a Griz/Raven combo like harley98 said, how many ravens should I have, and how many points should I invest in spirit/dire wolves(Because those skill points will, of course, come on behalf of points in wind skills- Hurricane synergies)?1 point should be enough. +skills will increase the number of Ravens and bring the wolves up to a decent enough level. Remember, a windy's summons are just meant to tank and provide cover, not actually kill anything.

what helm are you going with? my fire ele uses a ravenlore, which gives ravens. the ravens and my merc are enough, in hell.

also, with the grizzly, remember it does phys dmg only (i believe). it also does knockback, which is kind of annoying if its just your merc and griz vs 1 monster.

if you go ravenlore, i think the ravens and your merc will be enough.

Umm.... Evrae Altana- I have a question.
You said the summons are only ment for tanking and providing cover, but not for killing anything. Funny thing, I always thought that "to tank" means "to kill". Guess not. Can you please explain to me what "to tank" means?

"Tanking" refers to taking damage while others or oneself performs another purpose.

Good tanks generally are able to take many hits well. In many games, tanks are usually characters that have high HP, high defense, good reduction systems, etc.

In this case, your Grizzly Bear takes the heat of the battle since he takes all the damage as a tank, while you spam spells.

Edit: Here is a good definition from Urban Dictionary:

tank
Noun: A player-character, typically in a MMORPG, that is able to occupy an agressor and take the brunt of the aggressor's attacks while the other players deal damage, heal, or perform some other action. The "tank" can survive longer while taking damage than the other characters. Typically, the tank has higher hitpoints (health) and a higher armor rating than the other characters. Less commonly, a character with a lower armor rating can perform the actions of the tank by using avoidance abilities. Ultimately, the tank needs to be able to occupy the agressor without dying. The method employed, whether avoidance or absorption, does not matter, as long as the tank can mitigate damage in some way.

Pretty much what I said, but more professional and whatnot. lol.

i think of the grizzly as more of a decoy, rather than a tank. tanks kill. decoys draw the attention away from you.

::nods:: i agree. I think something that can pull their weight is a tank. something that stays alive but doesnt kill obtains decoy status!
example: Act 2 might merc= tank. valk = decoy

Can you please explain to me what "to tank" means?I guess you and I have different definitions of "tank" then. I just call whatever can stand there and take numerous hits "tanks", disregarding whether or not they can actually kill. I guess I never called "tanks" that doesn't deal a lot of damage "decoys" since it would be a bit confusing since amazons have a skill by that same name.

As to the tank topic, the utmost ultimate tank would be a D/A/E werezon with max block, max dr and 90'ish resists

CTA BO is welcome as well
