View Full Version : PvP Frenzy Barb doable?

I was trying to make a godly yet uncommon PvP build and I noticed the Frenzy guide is strictly PvM.

Is it possible to really own in PvP with a Frenzy barb, I was doing some math and looking at the skill calculator and here is what I came up with. I would focus mostly on Frenzy and its synergies with a low BO sadly. I might put a point into increased speed to run even faster.

With my gear and charms I would have:
+600% damage from skills, synergies (20% magical)
+200% damage from mastery (and crit strike)
+200% damage from beast fanatacism
about +700% AR (not to mention arreats)

A zealer would have with good setup:
+420% skill damage
+611% fanatacism
about +540% AR

I would be hitting 5 frames for attack with frenzy on.
He would have 4 frames.

My gear setup would look something like:
Arreat (um)
Grief zerk
Beast zerk
Fortitude
Dracs -- Knockback gloves
Gore Riders
Verdungos
2x Raven Frost
MetalGrid
Torch -- Anni -- Combat GCs (are max/AR charms better?) -- Poison Charms

Doesn't that sound doable? I love the +200% run walk and the demon he becomes.

One BIG question is, could that knockback on the gloves be cool, if I knockback then run at HIGH speed and knockback can I get a Charge-like thing going? If I am that fast can I desync them like a chargedin?

Tell me what you think and if you have tried it yourself. I'm curious to know before trying it.

I'm starting to think that since no one has replied, either no one cares, no one has made one, or I'm blacklisted i.e. not in the "cool crowd".

Maybe having no replies means that this really is an original build. Someone please reply.

Thanks

You need a shield if you're melee, whirlwind barbs can get away without due to the mechanics of whirlwind. Tele+Frenzy would be to hard to aim in my opinion, and just faster run/walk you'll have trouble getting close to casters to land the first blow. Welcome to prove me wrong.

For frenzy, you need to "charge-up" your running speed.. and unless you use monsters to charge up.. there is no easier way, since you probably wont want to attack your opponents at normal speed..

Also, if you plan on facing other melee types, a shield is almost necessary.

Well if you plan dueling in pubs, you can "charge-up" to those pesky low level players , who are usualy crowding near town gates lol

I know that the easy answer is to say why it wont work, I am smart enough to think of the downfalls. The difficult and challenging part is to come up with strategies and ideas that can make this build viable or even godly. The latter is also more helpful.

So how can I "charge up"? Do I have to rely on town gaurders? Say that it does work, what about my knockback question? -- still no answer. Should I use Doom to catch them and charge up (I know its bad manners but there are no manners these days). Lots of fast run walk before Frenzy skill could help. Huge R/W, Doom and Knockback = fun and unique?

What would work?

Try grief and Doom maybe in Pvp. I have used Grief and Doom in Pvm with my Frenzy barb and worked wonders soo I'm saying go ahead and give it a try.

NORMAL SPEED = 6fpa
If I have [Doom/Beast] or [EBTOD/Beast] or [Grief(40)/Beast with 30IAS]
That doesn't sound so bad, I could handle that being the speed on the first hit. Then I go to 5fpa. I can reach them with the Increased Speed skill and Gores (30%R/W) and I have R/W charms if its necessary.

Lets make this work, humor me.

Last question, if I have Doom (50% slow) and Blackbog's Sharp (50% slow to target) what happens, do they freeze/stop moving?

The difficult part is not reaching your opponent with frenzy

the problem is targeting them

when you RUN (not tele) across 3-4 screens in a second it is hard to namelock someone who is teleing around at the same speed while you are running like a maniac

now if you have insane l33t mouse skillz with very low ping go ahead

No shield = dead vs. any melee char

Running to catch casters is problematic to say the least, plus using 'charge up' skills in pvp puts you at a massive disadvantage as well.

Omikron8 is right about trying to name lock someone IF you did ever get Frenzy charged, it would be a nightmare.

Edit: About the slow question, I think Orphan was saying something about players can only be slowed down to 25% of their movement, about 1 yard. Also i think slow is capped at 50% vs. players in 1.11.

Edit2: Knockback with Frenzy would probably just make you miss with the second attack, IMO it would be more beneficial to keep opponents within your range.
