if a monster is immune to poison, will lower resist by necro change that?

I am confused:
what does lower resist by necro actually do?
1. does it lower poison resistance for monsters that have resistance(ex: 50%)?
2. then what about those monsters that has the green letters: "immune to poison"?, will my lower resist curse lower their resist and thus i will be able to effectively use my poison dagger on them?
3. I also want to know if its the same for cold immune monsters when i max my sorc's cold mastery(which "pierces") enemy's cold resistance, does that mean then my ice orb will have good effect on those that have "immune to cold"?

ok, so from reading all the posts i learned this: basically you have to use either conviction or lower resist(at 1/5 effectiveness) to get the immunity down below 100%, then the -resis items etc. will work as normal.(am i correct?)

my question now is how do i find out how much resistance the immune monster has in the first place(115%? 120%? 105%?)

also does anyone know about what % of monsters are poison immune?

Conviction won't lower poison resistance / break poison immunity. Lower Resist can.
