are facet damage increases calculated after the effect of the masteries? example: if I already have a level 39 fire mastery with all my gear on, that's 298% more fire damage. now does the increased +5 on a pure fire facet just bring that up to 303, or does it add on 5% to my total fire damage after mastery?
sorry for the newb question, but I'm thinking of starting a meteorb for mfing, so I thought I would ask around a bit, read a few guides, to see what I wanted to do equipment-wise

+% damage is added in along with your mastery, not after. If your level 39 mastery gave +298% damage, then a Facet would boost that up to +303%.

so basically it's not all that useful if you have a high mastery to start with?
With the fire and light masteries when using facets it's better to have - res over + damage

so basically it's not all that useful if you have a high mastery to start with?+% damge doesn't boost a sorc's fire/light damage that much, but it will make a noticeable difference in cold damage since Cold Mastery doesn't actually add on any +% damage.

a question to add on. If i have 2 different facets of different elements and they both have death triggers, will both trigger when I die or just one randomly?

Both will trigger when you die.
Both will trigger when you die.
Additionaly, it's worth noting that if you have two of the same (say, two fire ones on death), you still only get that effect once. So if you have two fire on death, then you get killed, you only get one meteor. It adds the chance of it going off - so you'd have a 200% chance of it going off, which is no better than 100%.
Here's another facet question, which seem to be in no shortage;
What radius is the facet's -res and +dam effects?

Similar question, i'm on a immune breaking rampage.
You have a lightning sorc, what if you were to equip an item such as crescent moon or such, that -x to target Light Resist. Does that work on spells? or just swinging at the dudes?
from what i have heard thru other posts on this subject, it applies to whatever you are doing to the target. thus your spells, melee attacks, auras, etc. are affected by it, however your mercs attacks (and your traps if i remember) are not affected by this. so slapping a crescent moon on your merc wont help your light spells.
If i am wrong on this please correct me :)

It does apply to any elemental attack you do, but it does *NOT* break resistances. As stated many, MANY times before in this forum, the only things that break immunities are Conviction and Lower Res. and Malakho is right, it only applies to damage done by you. and not with traps, either, since as I understand it, traps are considered a minion.

i can say % damage does make a difference.
5% you wil not notice.
But if you got 25% on 15K damage you wil notice the dif.
My MF light sorc does 24K damage at the moment.
I use perfect eschuta, still need a 5/5 facet for more dam.
I'm busy to build a meteor sorc now with 5 light facets.
