What sorc build to chose?

I've been playing a lot of singleplayer since 1.0, and around 1.08-1.09 i discovered the nova orb sorc. I really liked it, and quickly began to think of it as the "only playable sorc". After 1.11 i picked up on the sorc again, but i find that i quickly fall behind on the damage with nova, and orb isn't really a powerhouse either without lots of + to skills.

I've heard that a meteorb sorc is supposed to be powerful, as well as a cold-exclusive blizzard build. But won't meteorb be too unfocused to do well in hell? And what does a blizzard sorc do against cold immunes?

Can someone please recommend a good sorc build for a very poor battle.net-newbie?

Meteorber is good.

The damage is high enough to do effectively in hell, even solo if you get a good merc. Plus Meteorbers make nice MFers.

Single Element sorcs achieve ridiculous damage but sacrafice ability to solo in hell effectivly. Certain rich mofo lightning sorcs circumvent this by getting Infinity and other -lightningresist items (Gryphon Eye comes to mind), but you can't really hope to get Infinity on you first bnet character that soon.

Single element sorcs also make good MFers for certain targets as they kill faster then dual elements.
