One thing that have been a mystery to me for quite some time is the property "+x to light radius".
I thought it has something to do with lightning, but still it wouldn' t make any sense.
Suddenly I had the thought that it could be the bright circle that is around your character when it is dark.
Is that it ???
(almost hope not, as it would make me feel a kind of stupid)

That's exactly what it is. I believe it's capped at +5 light radius.
Light radius is capped between 1 and 10 (min-max). Since the characters start out with a light radius of 5 then +5 light radius is technically the max, but if you have an item with -light radius (Such as duskdeep) then you would need more to reach the max.
The highest light radius i know of is the +8 from torches, but hey, it's a torch ;o)

Actually, I´ve read that 18 is the max number, and 13 is the "standard" setting, i.e. the one you have when no gear is affecting it. That still makes one "of the Sun" (+5) item enough to reach the max if you have no negatives.
In the dark caves of act 1, if I play a character that is weak and who needs to notice monsters quickly, I consider +light gear to be very useful. Also, I really appreciate the extra light from sorceress cold armor skills.
