Since I joined back into the fun somewhat after the season was played out, I am trying out various builds, effective leveling/mfing strategies, etc.

So, question is, for building a good MFing strategy next season I worked out something like this:

1. Start pure Blizzard Sorc for mfing NM Mephisto, Hell Andy, Hell Mephisto.

2. Gather enough wealth to get Tal Set to start a meteorber and MF pits and RiverofFlame/ChaosSanctuary.

3. Gather enough wealth to make an (Enigma, Heart of the Oak) and start a Hammerding for MFing just about anything.

4. Gather enough wealth to make a Smitadin to solo ubers.

5. Amass enough wealth to play any build I want for PvP or PvM fun.

Does this sound effective enough? Should I switch anything in the character order?

Well, you could try to play for the fun of the game, instead of being the richest guy around.
But, if u only want items and items, then that is a good strategy... i will probably use the same ;)

You can do step 1 with a meteorb sorc as well because she will be able to do that without Tal's set. I would skip the hammerdin part and start a zealer for the Übers instead of a smiter because he is more versatile. 1 point in smite is enough anyway. To gather keys, I recommend a cold/lightning sorc. That means:

1. Meteorb sorc. Invest everything into her until she has Tal's full set, WT, 5 fire skillers and perfect FCR Spirit (for the 105% FCR breakpoint)
2. Zealer. HoZ or perhaps a Spirit pally shield, Dracul's and a decent weapon (Oath or better) are mandatory.
3. cold/lightning sorc. No MF, but FCR and skills, skills, skills.
4. The fun begins. I normally start a bowazon as soon as I can get my hands on WF.

That is pretty much the fun in the game nowadays.

Try a harmony bow. Two seasons in a row I have a +1 matriarchal harmony. You might be able to make one faster than you can find a WF. With a harmony you will forget there is such a thing immunities. I even put a harmony on one of my mercs, for the aura.
