Question about dmg showing?

I put a grief and a fortitude on my Pally, but my dmg seems to stay the same. Does it not show? How exactly does smite work with damage added? It doesn't seem to change whether or not I have a weapon on, at least on the attribute screen.

Grief's damage does not show up correctly on the char screen. It says you only do a little bit of damage, but you actually do a lot more.
