I've been hearing about andy first drop bug?

can some one explain it to me.
how does it work?
how do u get it to work?

Itīs more of a hassle to NOT get it to work, if I understand correctly.

If you speak to any of the townspeople after you kill her the first time, the 'quest drop' probabilities (no 'junk' items, always at least rares (unless itīs a failed set item, or the item type canīt be rare)) will be used for all subsequent killings. She wonīt drop her 3 guaranteed gems again, though.

(Not that it affects me, because I only kill her once on each difficulty.)

1. Kill Andariel.
2. DON'T QUIT THE GAME, instead of that, make a TP, talk to Warriv to go to Act 2.
3. When you're in Act 2, you can quit the game.

From now on, everytime you kill Andy with this character, you'll have the 1st drop bug.

any char can do andy 1st drop , start a game in act 1 , chat to akara, charsi , gheed .
then use warriv to go to act 2 and take the wp there back to catacombs lvl 2 act 1 , then u get drop bug
simple.
baal drop bug is similar, except u need 2 ppl ,just start the game with a char that needs him killed, get that char to baals chamber. activate quest. then leave, other player kills and gets baal 1st drop, repeat over n over n over

Just to make it clear: The drop of improved quality (as described) isn't the quest drop, but the 1st kill drop. The quest drop consists of a few gems which won't be generated on subsequent kills.

I allways thought it is the other way, because TC from which bugged Andariel drops is named "Andarielq". So I allways speak about the subsequent drops as about "quest drops". It doesn't matter imho...

1. create a game with my Matriarch status Sorc
(making sure that the char starts in A1 rogue encampment)
2. talk to an NPC of my choice
3. talk to Warriv and choose the 'Travel East' options
4. from Lut Gholein take the Catacombs L2 wp
5. kill Andariel
And
Get the 1st kill drop even if I already completed Andariel's quest ?

This means the drop would be picked from the TC like 1st drop and not regular drop regardless of the fact the killing char has already done A1Q6 ?

Whatever Blizzard calls them in the MPQs, you get the pgems for completing the quest while you get the improved drop for killing her the first time (or more often because of the bug). The logical consequence would normally be calling them like that :brainiac:

No, you have to do that when you solve the Andariel quest. If you quit the game right after solving act 1 (without talking to the NPCs and perhaps even going to act 2), you have blown it forever with that character in that difficulty level.

You can check it quite easily. Kill Andy a few times and examine her drops. With her quest drop, she will only drop rare, set and unique items, except she has no choice. If all magical items from her have double durability or, in case of items with no durability, there are no rare or set items of that kind, no gems, scrolls potions etc. ever drop, she most probably produces only first kill drops. She can drop runes with her quest drop and BTW, it's not that unlikely that she will drop nothing at all.

So basically.

If I have the first drop bug. I just kill her normally as i always do and she'll never drop potions or scrolls.

If I dont have it. I'm can't get it on this char.

I didn't realize this post was so old...I did a GOOGl3 search and this thread came up, so I thought I would imply the obvious and say....if you do what they say it will work...I guess that is lame....it was like 2am......o wellz :(

So guys....never heard this before....I did this:

1 Kill Andy
2 Go to Warriv to act 2
3. Kept going to finish my rush (there was a frnd rushing me)

So ill get the 1st drop bug....but what exactly is this thing lol, the so called 1st drop bug?

When you kill act boss for the first time you get increase chance for good items (rare's, uniques). With bugged Andariel everytime you kill her it will be like first kill.

When you kill act boss for the first time you get increase chance for good items (rare's, uniques).Actually, it's increased chance at Sets and Uniques, which a minimum quality of rare (instead of magic). Any magic items that drop must be failed set items (item quality selected to be set, but no set version available for the base item).
