I do not believe that there is any cap on this, other than your ability to kill/survive effectively if you load on too much.:smiley:
well i was thinking of making a full energy shield sorc with alot of % damage taken goes to mana that has good block rates and damage reductio.. anyone know if this would be a good combo?

The damage used to calculate damage goes to mana is the damage after it gets reduced by ES and any DR/MDR gear. It would take an insane amount of Damage Taken Goes To Mana to gain back the lost mana. (A whole lot more than you could get even if every piece of equipment on you had the maximum amount possible.) The ES Guide does an example calculation of this.

He's right... it doesn't. I don't know the detail, but I know what you are trying to do. It doesn't work as you think it would in PvP.
By the way, DR/resists are applied after ES. Therefore, I don't think they'll do you a whole lot of good.

You can reach more than 100% with ease.
Including 12% jewels, it's like this:
Howltusk or Cow King's horns: 47%
6 socket weapon: 72%
Naj's light Plate: 67%
4 socket shield: 48%
Nightsmoke: 50%
Aldur's Advance: 10%
Angelic amulet: 20%
Gloves and rings can't have that affix and I haven't checked the new 1.10 uniques and set items.
With that equipment, a character can reach 314% - more than I expected. For a sorc, it means giving up lots of res, +skills, fcr etc., so I'm not sure if there's a useful build for it.
