View Full Version : The way DiabloII should have been
1) Exceptional and Elite items should have their own artwork and not the normal item's artwork with just better stats.
2) Blizzard should fill the Unique/Set items gaps, so that each item would have it's Unique and Set version of the item.
3) Mercenaries should have the right to equip Rings/Amulets/Gloves/Boots too.
4) All Runewords, as well as the Pandemonium event, should be available in SP.
5) The stash should have been a bit bigger, that way you could store some additional items rather than selling them for peanuts.
6) Nightmare and Hell should include their own monsters too and not always the same normal ones with better stats and immunities.
7) The ActV Rune reward should include different Runes for each level of difficulty and not 3 times the same Ral-Ort-Tal Runes.
8) Each Act Boss should at least drop 1 Unique item when completing the Act Quest. It's very frustrating wenn the roll is so bad and you get only magic items.
9) Vendors should also sell some Rare items from time to time and not only useless magic items.
10) MF should affect runedrops too, that way you would have a tiny chance of actually finding an Cham or Zod without dupping or hardcore trading.

I don't have 2 chams, I had once 2 years ago while experimenting with my friends and after endless duping. That's history.
And you DON'T have to ruin this thread, just post your suggestions if you like or comment mine.

9. I do not agree here. I think gambling for rares instead of buying them is a good thing.
BTW, a few of the magical items are NOT useless.
However, I would have liked the vendors to sell non-magical socketed items later in the game.

Have only one answer to you, download a mod or do your own that fit those criteria, obviously you dont like the game since it's so much of the game you dislike

OK, decided to put in my two öre (Iīm a Swede, we donīt have cents...):
1. I kind of like it the way it is. It makes upgrading items and the upgrades that can happen during shopping and gambling logical. Set items should be upgradable, and have a chance to spawn ehthereal.
2. For uniques, yes (I still canīt believe we have no unique Javelin, Antlers or Eagle Orb yet. Why not!?!.)
More sets? Maybe.
3. I think that would be overpowered.
4. Remove or tone down the ridiculously overpowered (for their cost) Spirit and Insight, then Iīm with you on the runewords. I donīt want any extra event, it doesnīt fit the storyline.
5. Agreed! Although if you allow self-muling, itīs not so bad.
6. They do! Act 5 is very different in NM and Hell compared to Normal. Many of the guest monsters have additional attack- and damage types. And there are way more boss packs in NM/Hell, and boss-free areas barely exist.
7. Maybe, but you canīt go much higher or it would be too good a reward.
8. I like it the way it is. The odds for S/U items are good enough, I think.
10. I donīt agree, but I think the higher runes should be much more common. A one-pass full clear of the whole game (/p1) should give on average something like 3 runes above Gul.

BTW, a few of the magical items are NOT useless.
When I read the OP I was thinking the same thing. I remember in the Melee Blues tourney when Hell Fara sold me a Cruel War Pike of Swiftness...that thing was most unquestionably NOT useless.
IMO, the vendors are a good source for weapons specifically, less so for other gear. I am taking some untwinked non-tourney projects through the game now and for those characters at least, once they've gotten to NM and Hell, the vendors offer better weapons than anything that has dropped outside the city walls. This is after you do some shopping, of course.

I disagree. That's why we MF. No competition if you get your items with a minimum of effort.
1. I agree.
Baba with zerker looks like he's on his way to sand box instead of Throne of Destruction. That's why i always pick swords over axes.

I have to say Demarki... you sure do like to start threads. Pointless threads. Threads designed to provoke people to give you their opinions and then you come back to argue. I'd have nothing against you if you simply allowed others to have their point of view, but you seem set on inflicting others with your standard, which by the way is not representative of the community you have chosen to join.
You want a different game. Great! Find a forum for it and go haunt there. There is what... almost six years of experience playing this game... longer than any other I've ever played. Everyone has put their ideas forth and you know what... they still play the game because it was designed well. Playing to armchair designers is a great way to get a game broken... check out DAoC for proof. I'd keep the game exactly how it is, with minor bug fixes. My reasoning is that if I get what I think I want, it might be bad for the game.
Most of your suggestions would ruin it.

The main area of agreement I have with this is in the rune area.
After a thousand countess runs, I decided a few things I thought would make the game better, in my opinion. Just disable the first five runes in hell difficulty. I am not saying that countess should drop Lo, or higher. But I believe that my calculations had 89% of my runes that dropped being the first five. This disable should apply to the hellforge as well. NM shouldn't be able to drop the lowest runes, Hell should be slightly better (again, not saying they should drop higher, just be kept from dropping the lowest).
If the change was made to Countess, for instance, it doesn't mean that everyone would be getting Ists all the time, the 89% would probably just shift up to runes 6-10. But the resulting up shift would, at least slightly, increase drops for runes 10-20.

Finding the good items at once would ruin the fun IMO, you should fight really hard to get the real goodies rune or Unique/set, should make you atleast break a sweat to get them

True, We MF for a purpose. Who wants to get a, say a WF, everytime you kill a boss. Well, some of you would, but I think its pointless. The game would not be as challenging. You make some good points though.

This might be OT, but it might be interesting if there were alternate ways to win the game (rather than just killing Hell Baal). Think Civilization or Alpha Centauri.
Alternate conditions for victory:
ECONOMIC: Acquire 1 billion gold at any point during the game.
MILITARY: Kill Hell Baal (right now this is the only way to win).
SCIENTIFIC/MAGIC: There is a VERY rare magic item or set of items where if you are lucky enough to find them all, their power allows you to instantly banish Baal from this world and win the game.
RELIGIOUS: Using either "conversion" type skill (Conversion/Mind Blast), successfully convert 5,000 monsters at any point during the game.
Each victory could lead to a different ending cinematic. Perhaps this could be included in Diablo 3?

ABSOLUTELY! And we NEED low level class specific items. Most assassins will never use anything but a magical claw. :sad2:
6) Nightmare and Hell should include their own monsters too and not always the same normal ones with better stats and immunities.
There are actually a couple. Those see-through apes come to mind. And the special abilities many monsters gain are quite cool; serpents go from some of the deadliest melee monsters in normal to some of the deadliest ranged monsters in hell. But ya, entirely new monsters all over would be pretty neat.

As for having each Act Boss drop a unique each time -that's too radical. But maybe if you increased the number of Set+ Unique items on the First Kill drop of Act Boss such that the average number of Sets + Uniques was about 1.0 per drop/ I think Hell Baal first kill drop already has an average drop of 0.6 to 0.7 S/Us so this would not be a huge change.
Of course, if they did make this change then they would also need to fix the Andariel NM bug that allows us all to retrun and always get "first kill" odds on all our subsequent drops.

Can anyone tell me plz what exactly is the NM Andariel Bug and when does that happen? I mean every time I kill NM Andariel do I get the "first kill" drops?

What's your problem? I didn't argue with anyone, I even agree with many of you that proved some of my suggestions were wrong.
I don't even get why you believe that this thread is pointless.
Demarki; I suggest you follow the advice (http://forums.diabloii.net/showpost.php?p=4219050&postcount=63) of our beloved moderator AlterEgo and stop posting. Lurk around and get a better feel for our community before posting again.

There is a difference between first kill drop (you get gems there) and quest drop.
Anyway they both should happan only on first kill, but there is a bug that makes Andariel drop allways from her "quest drop TC". - You have higher chance for uniqe/set/rares, and you will not get any magic or less quality items unless they are failed set items or items that can't spawn rare (like charms for example). There is also remove the chance of dropping junk (scrolls, arrows, potions) and gold - the result is more items from "equip" (armors, weapons) and especially "good" (jewelry, charms, runes).
The bug gets activated if you just talk to any NPC after you kill Andariel.

Ok, right after I kill NM Andariel I go and talk to Cain. Then what happens? If I save&exit and then load and kill NM Andariel again will I get better drops?

You can never be sure of better drops. It's always the chance of getting a better drop.

The most important thing I forgot to mention:
11) The beloved DiabloI Elixirs! God I wish these items existed in DiabloII, they're soooo valuable. Vendors should sell them for let's say 50.000G each, so that Gold would have a much better value and reason than now.

If this is true than y this, if it has no value no reason to dupe your gold
I'll copy my saves to another folder, try the Ladder only Runeword and if it fails I'll just paste back my older saves just to be sure.
That's a good way to gamble too, you can Gamble your millions many times until you get good item.

Alter Ego sugested that you lie low and lurk for a while to let the heat die down and to learn what is and isn't acceptable on the forum. That would be the advice you are currently ignoring.
I find nothing wrong with your posts in this thread on the surface, but it grates a bit to hear you making suggestions regarding the value of gold after having previously posted about duping it.
Perhaps you should chill out and give time for such associations to dim in people's minds. True, some forumites will never forget, but you have yourself to thank for that. Keeping a low profile for a bit can only help.

I agree. Too many threads and posts. DeMarki dude, you've admitted to doing something bad, and continue to post/start threads as if nothing has happened. Staying on the low would really help a lot...
