Yet another dilemma..This time: Boots..

In the same spirit as my glove dilemma (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?p=4202943#post4202943) topic, this is a boot dilemma topic :azn: I've read and followed Jek's lightning ama guide and at the item part of the guide he says, and i quote:

Crafted Blood Boots - Can be the strongest choice due to the fixed mods; 10-20 life, 1-3 LL, 5-10 Life Regeneration. A great choice with the right mods.

The right mods. And that's where my problem lies. What are the so called right mods. What should i be looking for in these crafted boots? I've crafted around 10 boots already but I cant really figure out which ones are crap and which ones might be usefull. Or shouldn't I be picking crafted boots at all? Are there unique/set boots that you think will always beat crafted ones?

- Spirit Brogues Battle Boots -> 20FRW / 1 LL / 5 Dex / 19 Life / Repl Life 10 / Lightres 39% / Poison red. 25%
- Bone Brogues Battle Boots -> 20FRW / 1LL / 6 Dex / 14 Life / Repl Life 8 / 8 Max Stam / 77% Gold
- Loath Nails Battle Boots -> 1LL / 15 Life / Repl Life 7 / Heal Stam 50% / Lightres 15% / Poisonres 11% / 49% Gold
- Doom Tread Battle Boots -> 30%FRW / 1 LL / 5 Dex / 10 Life / Repl Life 9 / Coldres 36% / Poisonres 8%
- Soul Tread Battle Boots -> 2LL / 28%ED / 5 Dex / 19 Life / Repl Life 10 / Max stam. +24 / Rep 1 Dura in 33s
- Spirit Track Battle Boots -> 2 LL / 33%ED / 19 Life / Repl Life 7 / Coldres 33% / Poison red. 25% / 25MF

- Viper Brogues Light Plated Boots -> 10FHR / 2LL / 16 Life / Repl Life 7 / 6 Max Stam / Heal Stam +25% / 21 MF
- Fiend Track Light Plated Boots -> 10FHR / 3LL / 4 Dex / 10 Life / Repl Life 8 / Poisonres 36% / Rep 1 Dura in 20s
- Soul Blazer Light Plated Boots -> 3LL / 58%ED / 11 Life / Repl Life 8 / Fireres 38% / poisonres 18% / 8 MF
- Viper Tread Light Plated Boots -> 1LL / 88%ED / 20 Life / Repl Life 8 / 29 Max Stam / Fireres 18%


The Light Plated Boots seem crap when I look at the defense (avg 20) on them. I shouldn't have even cubed them in the first place, but that was before I figured out I should be cubing Battle Boots. Anyway, is any of these worth anything or any good for my lightning ama? :rolleyes:

Don't know about your problem, but I personally like speed, stats, resists.
Something like Treks, I think are gr8 boots. If you are looking for CB, then Gores...

The Mods. above do not excite me at all..

sandstorm treks(life+poison res), war travs(life+str+damage), gores for pvp .
cow king boots are nice too +damage + dex + resists +frw.
nevermind crafting boots

Basically, look for FRW, +life/vit, +resists, +dex, and some additional mod. Of the boots you posted I like Spirit Brogues and Loath Nails the best, because of the FRW, the life, and the resists, but they're still not that great.

Sandstorm treks seem to get a lot of votes to be the best boots out there for Javazons..

If you really want crafted gloves then the "right mods" would be fhr/frw/+stats/+resists

I dont necessarily WANT crafted boots. But by reading the guide I figured they were the best. If not I'll take the best Uniques which seem to be Sandstorms.

Amen to that, I don't see a strong mod to justify using Sandstorm Treks. :prop:

I tend to use War Travelers on all of my Amazons.

I like gores for zons, even if ranged attack mods are nerfed. Again, sandstorm, waterwalks, travs are all good options.

You would have to get a good range of mods with high rolls on crafted boots for them to compete with these uniques. Basically, it should be noted that crafted/rares have the potential to be better than any other item...but they rarely are.
As others have said, FRW/FHR/Dex/Leech/resists are desirable mods on boots.
