for the kiddies who play single player.. whats your best find? has anyone actually found a hr in single player mode? or even made a legit enigma without the use of hero editors? im just curious.

Yep, there are even some legit BoTD's around here, and some nigmas as well....
It is not as tough as you would think, even though it is much more rare than on Bnet!

Yeah, High Runes drop for us like they drop for everyone else. They come every once in a while.
I'm working on my best find at the moment. I'll tell you when I find my beta BKWB. :D

This 45 years old kid has found about 85% of all set / unique items in the game. My best is probably a Stormlash, but 'good' depends on what you want to do ;) My luck on runes is bad, though. Best is still an IST.

I found a Lo when I was a total noob, after that it's a Gul from Hellforge or an Ist from Meph and hellforge. For items I suspect my Stormlash & Schaefer's are my best finds. I think I've found 2 IKSC's now too.

we don't have any objections to using the /playersX command - unless you clear all the monsters in an area at a low setting and then raise it while you pop chests/baskets/whatever... that's considered pretty cheesy, and is frowned upon.

Well surviving mostly isn't a problem, but fast killing is. Since I usually MF for set/unique items, I play mostly on P1 or P3, where the number of unique/set items per time is better than on P7.
Yes and since the players command adds only unpartied players, you will not get more drops on P2 than on P1, similarly P7 setting is the same as P8 (when you are playing solo).

My best rune-finds are one Gul and two Mals, can't quite remember what my best set/unique find was. But with the help of trades/giveaways I've mostly completed the grail as well (needing only 35 or so, pretty much only the rarest items).
I've found a few TC 87's (none of the more rare ones =/ ) but azurewrath is my pride :tongue:

My highest rune is a Mal (and a Gul in the beta, from Hellforge). Highest rune outside HF is Pul.
The rarest set/unique items I´ve found are Dragonscale, Natalya´s Mark and Griswold´s Redemption.
The "best" items I´ve found for the situation the character was in are probably:
* Fleshrender, in Hell Outer Steppes for my S/U worshipper tournament barb. I was extremely lucky to have the chance to upgraded it as well, thanks to NM and Hell Hellforge runes.
* Goldstrike Arch for my curses-only necro with rogue merc.

my highest rune was Sur and rarest unique, windforce, (i dont like mfing that much) found it with 0% mf.

My best rune is a IST (actually I found 2 from the Countess). The best Item I have ever found is a Death Web from the Ancient Tunnels. All of these item were found in Hardcore. I don't play SC any more.

I have found a perfect deaths fathom in sp back the days.

I found a CHAM rune running hell pindle, a VEX from somewhere, and a lot of GUL and under from hellforges and countless countess runs, enough to double IST an ali baba, make a CTA, and still have some crap left over. Ummm, actual item best find... probably would be Windforce or almost perfect Steelrends, sad as it is, I have terrible item luck, but very nice rune luck ;)
SC - Ist rune, Crown of Ages, Cranium Basher, Death Cleaver, near-perfect Griffon's.
(All given away)
HC - The Grandfather, Earth Shifter, Windforce, IK SC, Tal's Armour, Metalgrid, Seraph's Hymn, Stone of Jordan..
On a sidenote, I'm considering going back to SC. Which would mean that I'd transform all my HC goodies into SC goodies.. I don't think that people who play HC want to get items from Give-aways, for some reason.
Why am I considering this? I miss the care-free playing style of SC.

Why am I considering this? I miss the care-free playing style of SC.Play both. :wink3: Really, that's what I do. I can load up a SC character when I just want to run around killing stuff or want to hunt for items, and I can load up a HC character when I am looking for that extra challenge.
As for my best finds: My highest rune to date is a Pul. (Just picked it up recently from Doiof's NM hellforge.) I've found a few nice high end uniques like Death Cleaver (lost in the MFO) but my favorite find was a perfect Ravenfrost from NM Duriel.

My favorite is my 2% off perfect ED, ethereal reaper's toll. I got a lot of use out of that. Best runes are 2xGul drops and 2xGul HF quests.
Have found a Fathom, Griffon's. a couple of Grandfather's (an almost perfect one a few minutes ago), 2x Wisps, 2x Soj's......can't really complain about my item finds.
Rune-wise highest has been an Ist, once from the Pits, once from Countess. Have never seen a rune higher than those. Best runeword item ever made---Delirium.

My rarest find is definitely Tyrael's Might. That makes me hope that I will one day complete the grail (I have 21 items left). Concerning runes I found an Ist rune of pindle and a Vex rune in lower kurast.
I have found 2 Mals and 2 Guls a few puls and two ums.
But for me the best finds are the ones that have seen the most use eg. an Etheral Shafttop (still not not upped), Reaper's Toll and Guillame Face - makes my act 2 mercs great.
Similarly ThunderGods, and SoE, Goblin Toes, Goreriders and High lords Wrath are always being used and I'f coubnt these as my best items.
Items I'd love to find are an etheral Hone Sudan and Reaper's Toll as they would both see hard use.

I would have said maybe my harlequin crest shako when it dropped but it turned out to be ethereal, and only 7 durability at that...so i prolly wont use it. I would imagine that the wizardspike would be decent if i ever make a sorc. Usefulness prolly goes maybe to my guillaume's face. Best rune so far is a lem but i havent done any hell countess running or even gone to hell hellforge ever.
My best, yet not most valueable, find is a Stone of Jordan. The way I found it is what makes is special to me.
I was hitting NM Andy (triple-digit runs), but no SoJ. The minute I decided to relieve my boredom with another sorceress, a carver outside the pit dropped it for me. My confusion and disbelieve (and subsequent laughter) at this drop are worth more to me than the stone itself.
Best rune: a Mal from NM Hellforge (followed by an Um in Hell ???)

Another dreaded squid sighting....
My best rune drop was a Mal in NM Act 5, one of the tunnels. Not even a boss drop. My best item find? Nothing Godly. But in terms of need, my 0% MF Frost Zealot found a Moser's. Put two perfect diamonds in there. That find caused me a great deal of celebration, let me tell you.

Smartest post ever............ telling us cheaters and hackers without even knowing us, always judging the book by it's cover uh? Take a look at this "grandpa" :rolleyes: Our very own tourney of MF (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=398394) and you'll get an idea of our finds.
By the way, we love our legitness, and we are not cheaters, not dupers, not hackers, that's for the cattle.net players :wink3:

Best rune was a Lo what was wasted in a "grief" which has almost worse roll(tho my conc barb is very happy with it)

Best find so far is a Ber. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Or should I say it was my best find, because when I giddily looked at the other runes I would need to go with it, I found my stash sorely lacking - no Jah, no Sur, no Ist, and no likelyhood of ever finding them. Best item might be Shako or Guillaume's, simply from the use they get. Bu my most enjoyed find was with my new Hardcore (and therefore untwinked) Conc Barb...

Wht the hell is the "squid" btw?
Sometimes the forums are acting up, then lost posts are often referred to as having been 'eaten by the squid', and all kinds of weird stuff are blamed on the squid. Or on Durf...
From the SPF FAQ:

Well thanks for the replies guys, oh and im sorry if I "offended" anyone by my silly humor. I was just curious in what drops people have found since I havent really made a serious attempt in playing single player. I was thinking about starting a hammerdin or a MF sorc for single player but never got my feet down and started off. So ill be checking back from time to time whenever I get around to starting a character in single player. I have always played on bnet. Another question I have is open bnet. Is it common practice to get an open game going to maybe help a few friends out? Playing legit of course.
Open bnet = hackers/cheaters paradise. Make a tcp/ip game if you'd like to mp.
Open battle.net is full of cheats, dupes and hacks, far worse than battle.net itself. The solution is to play over TCP/IP with your friends or trusted members of SPF. (See stickied MP thread)
Not sure if it is my best find but, i got one lightsaber and arreat`s face in the same drop from meph some years ago. It is maby the find i remember the best.
The latest good find i had was a Stone chrusher, that was a few weeks ago. I can mention that i have found around 90 % of all the sett and unique items in the game, but runefind`s is poor. Ist is my higest. I have made a Stone-runeword
from a eth archon plate. It has over 4000 defence. Nice merc Armor.
The item that is my grail is a tal armor. No mather how many pindleruns i do he wont give it to me!!

Best find was definitely my first TC87, Tyreal's Might from Pindle. Other 2nd place ones were Mara's, 20 dex Ravenfrost, perf Crescent Moon, Lightsabre, Griswold's Valor and Tal's ammy.
EDIT: HAHA realised that Tyreal's doenst drop from Pindle, nor do i have the very very rare sacred armor. The armor i was mentioning of course is a Templar's. Me=blur :rolleyes:

i haven't found very high runes (IST from the forge..thats it), but i have a 30% fathom that's very dear to me and my blizz sorc :)
Rarest (!= best) would be an eth Astreon's; highest non HF rune was a Gul in a MP game and an Ist from Meph.
Best finds, Ber, Lo, Ohm runes, 3 Deaths Webs, 3 Schaeffers, 2 Deaths Fathoms, Mang Songs.

My best drops from what I've read around the forums would be the Ber I found on cattle.net. I still consider it single player because by that time I was only playing in single player locked/passworded games. found it in hell pits by who I don't remember I just remember being stun locked for a few seconds.
Also found Vex, Ko, Ist, Um runes in SP my pc. Don't know what might be considered my rarest item find but I have found a Wizardspike, Arm of King Leoric and a couple of the cow kings stuff.
Still waiting for the day when that Stone of Jordan I have been reading about for 3 years finally drops. would like to see some of those high end weapons one of these days too.

As I have mainly played in tournaments with underpowered characters, I haven't found many great items at all. My best are probably Fleshripper and Gheed's Fortune (Gheed's I've found a couple of times with different characters). And of course I once found a Baranar's with a tourney character who was not allowed to use it.
My best rune is still an Um that I received from NM Hellforge with a tourney sorceress (it was in A Quick Tourney III, I think). She bit the dust (HC) before I could use it in any way.
A very kind Devilkin gave me a Cham rune :smiley:
Nothing has come close to that, and I don't believe anything ever will, save for a perfect TC87 or [of course] a Zod rune.
Eldritch or one of his minions, IIRC, gave me an Ist, and a monster or basket (hard to tell) in the Ancient Tunnels coughed up a Vex. Itemwise . . . full IK set, full Tal's set, good Ormus' Robes, stuff like that.

Most fortuitous find...well, the first Schaefers dropped in 1.09, I believe in the Ancients way (I really don't remember), which helped me finish the Pat, but...not too many other finds at just the right place.
On a sidenote, I found an SoJ a few years back in 1.09, and I gave it to my brother-in-law who was running a necro at the time...if I had known...nah, I still would've given it to him, I think.
I also have owned about a dozen or so crude sashes...which still make me grin when they drop.

I'm not sure... I found a doombringer, but that was 1.10 beta, and i no longer have it. As for real stuff, I trhiunk it is a tie between soul cage and ohm rune.

Most rare best item: prob my 2 os CoA
Best item for usefulness: maybe perf eth Gladiator Bane. That thing has been worn by many mercs, and I believe it was a very strong factor in getting me through some tough spots late in the game. Namely ancients, but other areas and situations as well.
