I'm sure this topic has been argued to death, but I couldn't find a link to the discussion anywhere, so I thought I'd bring it back up.

What are the pros and cons of Strafe when compared to Multi, and vice versa? It seems that Strafe does "more" damage, but doesn't have the chance to hit as many enemies as Multi does. I have seen many, many guides saying that Strafe is better, but they never exactly say why.

Help?

Strafe:
-costs relatively little mana
-can hit targets that are spread out all around you
-higher damage

Multishot:
-costs a lot of mana at higher levels
-damage is fixed at 3/4
-fires in only one general direction

Strafe is available at lvl24 for a reason. And if all arrows are shot into one direction then you got more chance to deal Critical/Pierce.

There are quite a few lvl30 skills in this game that aren't worth more than one point, if that.

about the same lol. strafe is autoaim, multi is a brutal attack on all directions.

I think this debate greatly depends on your bow speed. The faster it is, the better it is with Multiple Shot, 7 FPA attack being the ideal (Faith needed) but 8 FPA can get the job done too. With a high Pierce level and against bigger and more concentrated enemy crowds, Multiple Shot easily outdamages Strafe.

Strafe however is better against single targets or small, dispersed enemy groups. Strafe is also less gear-dependant, you can use slower bows and be effective with it.

I personally love Multiple Shot and it's my favorite bow skill. Freezing Arrow coming second, Strafe third.:wink3:

If you have crap gear , and bow such like witchwild string or goldstrike, just put some crushing blow, chance to cast on attack stuff and go with strafe

If you have faith/wf use multishot

Anyway its in PVM case both

Strafe:

Better for knockback
Better for ctc effects
Better arrows/frame against 1-3 monsters not lined up
Better arrows/frame against monsters when they are lined up
Autotargets
Strafelock
+5 ed/slvl
locked mana cost (11)Multi:

Better arrow/frame against larger groups
Better for hitting targets running sideways
Better for hitting targets ofscreen
Not locked in place for so long
Spread of arrows depends on mouse position when clicking
Mana cost increase with each level--------------------------------------------------------------------
Multi>strafe in pvp (that one is clear at least)

In PvM strafe is best allround I guess, but with high end gear and in wide areas with many monsters multi clearly wins. I prefere to use both to adapt to the situation I am in.

Valk, Decoy and merc are there for a reason

If they can even attempt to surround you at all, there's something very wrong with your play style.

Valk, decoy, merc as suggested above, and add knockback to the list as well.

I had to read this twice to understand it.

I  punctuation.

Strafe if your dmg/speed is meh/Multi if your a LotR freak and you want to be like Legolas.

but ive never rely liked decoy or valkWhat's not to like about a big tank that can take ungodly amounts of damage and not even flinch? Perhaps the reason you're being swarmed so much is because you vastly underestimate the power of the Valk.

All zons should have valk just like all sorc should have tele and static and all necro should have corpse explosion. Even at 1 point they are godly.

Awesome, guys. I see that, largely, it comes down to personal playing style and aesthetic choices, but for the most part Multi is both more and less versatile. However, I was planning on maxing Guided for PVP among friends, so it seems that Multi is just better for me, since I already will have a boss killer. Since I'm getting WF soon, I guess I'm set.

Thanks again.
