I have been considering getting into Diablo more seriously, buying LOD and maybe even attempt joining a clan but here are my concerns:

-How many people still play LOD/D2? Theres only a couple dozen games up when I play D2, I'm concerned that really theres not that many people left.

-How many D2 Clans are truly active? I'd love to be involved in a clan and do runs and be really serious about it and stuff, I have the time, but how many still exist and does anyone really care about them anymore?

-Is LOD really almost like getting a new game like I hear? I hear its so much better and its worth it, is this true?

Thanks for anyone who can answer these questions. I just don't want to get really into the game like I did with WoW or something if there aren't going to be people still active much longer.

There are alot more people that play the expansion when compared to those that play the classic.

LOD does bring alot of new features to the game that you won't see in classic. Runes and runeword are just for starters, but you also get an entire new act (Act 5), as well as jewels, new uniques and sets, elite items and 2 new playable classes (Assassin and Druid). There's also more cube recipes in the expansion than in the classic. The expansion is well worth the money.

If you are looking for a clan, check out the player matchup forum if you haven't done so already (http://forums.diabloii.net/forumdisplay.php?f=31). I can't really comment on the activity levels (as I'm not in a clan) though.

I personally haven't played since like 2001 I quit right before LOD came out and decided that I wasn't gonna pay $15 a month for WOW so I picked up LOD about a month ago and haven't stopped since.. Just don't be a noob and sell 2 HR bers to the store clerk like my dumb *** did..

There seems to be plenty of people on USEast LOD from what I can tell..

You have found 2xber in one month? I'm playing for years and only recently I've managed to get by killing monsters is ohm (nl,pity).

A couple of the more noticeable improvements in LOD are the larger stash size and the equipable mercs (+barb mercs in act 5) with much improved AI.

Yup sure did and the only reason I remember is because of the crushing blow stat. I was like "This can't be worth much with this low of a %" so i sold both. That was probably the last ones I'll ever find since I haven't found much since then..

Ya the equip mercs was a nice surprise for me. I just traded for doom last night and he rocks now.
