My torch disappeared!

Hi.

Something weird just happened here. I started a game in normal mode for muling a torch from one char to another. I had the game running in windowed mode, and let the char stand in act 1 by the stash with the stash/inventory screen open. While waiting a couple of minutes for the game to get permed I switched over to the web browser.

When I checked back to the game and was to mule the torch, the game had obviously dropped because the chat window was open instead. Ok, no big deal, I started a new game (with same name and pass). I thought the game perhaps had dropped because of inactivity, so I ran around in town while waiting and typed some random letters in the chat box.

Anyway, when well over 5 minutes had passed, I opened stash to pick up the torch and drop it, and it was gone! I am 100% certain that it was there before (if I recently haven't been starting hallucinating while playing Diablo).

To be really sure I hadn't already muled it and somehow forgotten about it (although it was just minutes ago I was to mule it), I left the game and entered with the mule it was supposed to land on. And then another mule, and another, and another. Nothing. Which ofcourse resulted in a 'realm down'.

It wasn't a very good torch, and I traded it for pul, so it's not such a big fuss really, but what the hell could have happened here? I am definetly sure I didn't place it on the ground and it got lost in the first game, because I remember having the inventory and stash window open, and saw it there neatly besides some armors.

I've had a similar incident happen to me 2day
lost 26 high runes and trader lost a 20/20 paladin torch.
It's something to do with the game crashing before it saves u're characters. Here's wat happens:
1. U drop torch
2. U leave the game and get another character. When u exit the game it will save the image of u're character. Thus that character no long has a torch.
3. U pick up the torch with another character
4. Game crashes before u leave the game/ someone joins the game. No image of character saved

GG blizzard. U M****rf****rs.
Don't feel so bad, these things can't be predicted and can't be avoided.

Yeah, that seems like a reasonable explanation.

I don't feel so bad about it any more. I have muled over thousands of times, so I guess it's bound to happen things like this sometime. It's just weird that no other items has disappeared this way...

Anyway, it could be worse. And I found a better torch for my ama in the next ubertrist. So I guess it equals it out somehow. :smiley:

Its kind of like rollback. When u dropped the torch on the ground, the game went down shortly afterwards without any signs of it being "down" therefor when u picked up the torch with another charcter, you actually didnt pick it up because that game was down, and wallah! next time u join game torch isnt there because that game long expired with the torch still on the ground. I have lost many item,s in the last 2 years because of this stupid problem that battle net has no fix for. :(

The way he explained it and your answers dont make sense. The explanations are saying that he dropped the torch and left to go mule. Then the character wasnt saved because of the game crashing.

However, he says that he had it on him and then the server crashed, therefore there was nothing on the ground to begin with and the character should still have the torch because he entered with it.

Ofcourse, if you dropped the torch and forgot then that could explain it.

Maybe a bnet rollback, it seems to have happened to a lot of people yesterday (including me)
