Is Lycander's Aim the best PvM bow?

I found a Lycander's Aim in Act3 Nightmare and I'm pretty sure it one of the best PvM bows in the game. I was just wondering if there are better bows than this one cause if not, I would like to personalize it and perhaps even upgrade it if I can find a Lum rune later on.

Hey congratulations on finding a lycander's aim. I'm trying to find one myself, because my bow sucks... but anyways, lycanders aim, is a pretty good bow. It does more damgage than my bow, and I am towards the end of act 2 Hell. So it should be able to carry to through most of hell. However, many rares can spawn with better mods and the elite bow are all better than it in terms of damage and other stats.

It's not bad, but I like WWS better. Also, Lycander's Aim is nothing compared to the high end bows, like Windforce and Faith.

Lycanders is great when you're leveling thru nightmare diff, in hell it's only useful if you do 1 player games, otherwise some monsters will regen hp faster than you can damage them.

change the word "best" to "worst" or "most craptacular"

Looking at his threads eariler and in the other forum, this is probably one of the best bows he has found so far. So, don't start saying stuff like that. Not everyone can afford a faith you know.

Anyways, if that bow is not cutting it in hell, I would suggest a harmony. It's cheaper than upping the bow.

Until the new rune words Lycs was considered very good bow, particularly for frostmaidens. It's still an endgame bow in the right hands.

wf faith botd bow ect...they all beat lycanders pvm & pvp, but i do respect the find, and the bow looks cool :-). but don't count on help from it in higher lvls of hell

Up'ed Shaeled Lyc Aim is a great bow. There's no denying that. That stats for a non-runeword like this, are too good. No one throws away their Jalas or Arreats or HoZ, because frankly, no Runeword beats them. Lyc Aim was like this in overall "BOW" until they made Faith. Faith is just a retarded conception of the Dev team on B.net. And windforce is only awesome due to damage--it's still a slow bow with huge requirements. Lyc Aim has the mods, it just lacks that "max" damage that people tend to only look at when determining what's good. Speed and average damage are far more important. Faith simply is out of the ball park. But Lyc Aim is still a damn fine bow. Up it and use it!

The only things to even come close to it, are the insanely expensive and insanely duped-to-make runewords. In my opinion; they don't compare because it's not realistic to think someone fresh to the ladder is going to be sporting WindForce of Faith. Leave it to the botters and dupers to rig the whole ladder in a few minutes.

Anyhow, Up'ed Shaled Lyc Aim on a Zon built for Speed can go through hell. It won't be an easy trek, nor a fast one, but she can do it better than most melee characters would. Just use a merc and valk and all will be well.

Anyone should be able to get a windforce trading a decent forge drop if you ask me.

But Lysanders is still a good bow :smiley: and btw try a trechery runeword armor, a lem shouldn't take to many pgems to buy :wink3: Beats most other low armors if you ask me.

Well lycander and windforce has same speed. Windforce has much better average damage too, I consider Lyc bow as Nightmare difficulty bow, and its good in there. If you up it, you can try do some kill in hell first acts, but not in a5 of course hehehe

Well lycander and windforce has same speed. Windforce has much better average damage too, I consider Lyc bow as Nightmare difficulty bow, and its good in there. If you up it, you can try do some kill in hell first acts, but not in a5 of course heheheI guess that an upped Lycan is viable in hell act 5 just as much a harmony mat is, and a harmony mat is rather viable.

Why not move to B-net then it doesn't matter if Your HD crashes or not, Your chars will be saved anyway.

Also if You play on Europe I can provide You with some stuff to get You going

You should still have your LcyAim on your characters regardless if your PC crashed. Unless you're playing single player or something, or open.

If you're on USeast though, ladder, give me a PM sometime. Got an extra Aim if you would like it.

Ok I play single but I have a question. How do you up the bow? Not sure what folks are saying about upping a bow or most things in that matter. Can anyone give me a decent chance on how to do this.

Here's how to upgrade Lycander's.
1 Lum Rune + 1 Pul Rune + 1 Perfect Emerald + Exceptional Unique Weapon = Elite Version of Weapon (Ladder Only)
This formula changes the base item type from the exceptional to elite version. For example a Cleaver is turned into a Small Crescent. This does NOT convert the item to the Elite Unique version of the Exceptional Unique Item. Unique item bonuses remain the same; only the item it's based on is upgraded. This can be used to upgrade Ethereal Items also. They will continue to be Ethereal after they are upgraded. You cannot do this formula unless you are using a Ladder Character. Also if the item is socketed, then jewels or runes and their mods will also remain.

I don't think you can make Duress on SP. Check the single player forum here to be sure. They support the runeword mod there as well. That is a mod that allows all ladder/realms only runewords on SP.
