Is Hellslayer really that bad now?

I used to use hellslayer with my WW barb back 2 years ago, and the results were good enough that I could survive in Act 5 Hell and kill decently, however, I am seeing people say that HS is now pretty much useless. Is it really that bad now? I used to love this thing.

PS: Would gladly trade one of you guys on US EAST NL for an extra one you have.

What is the best 2 handed unique axe for WWing. I am using for PVM and prefer 2 handers to 1 handers.

The problem with Hellslayer is that it's far too slow for WWing. WW now requires a total weapon speed of -34 to reach the last WW breakpoint.

There are only 3 Elite Unique Axes: Hellslayer, Messerschmidt's, and Executioner's. Assuming you Shael any of them, these are the fastest breakpoints for WW:

Hellslayer - 8 frames
Messerschmidt's - 6 frames
Executioner's - 6 frames

All of which are short of the 4-frame maximum.

i have 1 useast nonladder my account is *nico_0475. if u get high ias from rest of gear it can be really good. shael it and use it with loh, verdungos and demonhorns and its not that slow. ( i got demonhorns if u need also ):jig:

Off-weapon IAS does not affect Whirlwind, it will help your Conc/Berserk swing speed though.

Dual Horizon's Tornado beats 2 hand hellslayer with ez...
btw Horizon's tornado can get pretty cheap with pgems or runes

Well, I am aware that one handed axes are more the way to go with WW, I just really prefer 2 handed. Since I only really do PvM, I really don't have a desire to make the perfect Barb, just one I like that is effective on hell. We'll see how it goes, I will definitely eventually have to switch off to a rare of some kind, but if I don't have anything better at the time when I can use it, I will use a HS.

Although there a better weapons, forget about range + speed. Its damage is enough to kill, and if you have fun using it good for you. Its an old classic....

If you absolutely must use a two-handed axe, then I would try to get an Executioner's Justice. It has huge damage, the longest range of all axes, and most importantly, Crushing Blow. Also, if you kill with Conc/Berserk sometimes, Decrepify will trigger.

If you get any of the 3, make sure to Shael it.

Btw the best budget 2h axe is an Oath Eth Feral axe. for a price of a Mal and a Pul you get:

800+ max damage
Last ww breakpoint
Range 3
Usable at lvl 49!!!

Feral axes drop quite commonly, and a white one will automatically get 4 sockets @ larzuk.

It is also a great werewolf weapon.

It would take -59 speed for all 2 handed weapons that are not swords.

2 handed swords when used as a 2 handed weapon need -51.

1 handed weapons that are not claws. Need -34, and thats only the second breakpoint there are higher/more hitting 3rd break point, out there for 2 handed weapons. Using 2 one handed weapons are better tho.

If you want to use a 2 handed weapon for ww and want the best get a ebotd greater pole axe. I'll get of the :soapbox: now. Then disapear again.
