View Full Version : Shockwave...
Is druid's Shockwave a viable pvp skill? or is it nerfed in pvp. I'm sure it's cut just like any stun lengths in hell, but does it work? That be sick to blast your opponent with lvl 40 SW and take ur time killing them after. At level 20, shockwave causes a 13 second stun, where as smite is 4.4 and mblast is 5.8. Hmmm, I'm hopin someone tells me it works.

Shockbears i think is what you are referring to, and they're a very cool idea for pvp. However, pre-1.10 was when they were semi effective: nowadays, with the advent of enigma, to have a character that cannot tele (druids can't tele in wereform) and has a short-range attack pretty much = death.
Also, the stun is similar to the assassin's mind blast, including needing about the same amount of FCR for the 11 and 10 frame casting bps, but the difference is you can hit ppl with mind blast from a whole screen away, assassins can teleport, and they have massive trap dmg to back them up.
If you do want to try this build out anyway, for "melee" only duels or non-tele duels (good luck finding those :undecided: ), druids in werebear form have an 11frame cast at 63, and a 10frame cast at 99. Go to the druid forum and ask... Garbad had a great shockbear, but i think he's gone now. perhaps other old druid forum vets might remember gear setups though.

P.S. in response to one of your original questions, ya the stun length is not what is listed for pvp. in fact, with recent patches, i think bliz got rid of the stun length going beyond your FHR recovery period for shockwave, rendering it even more useless. you'll have to get confirmation from someone else about that though, because it's been a LOOOOOONG time since i played a Shockbear (mid 1.09).

Yeah I’ve got a shockbear (89th lvl) and he did pretty well in 1.09/early 1.10, tho because of the reasons listed above, they're very difficult to do well with in 1.11, Min fcr you need is 99 and decent fhr and LOTS of faster run/walk. Don't expect much in pubbies, tho they're more fun than your legions of brain-dead grief smiters etc that you see nowadays.
