View Full Version : Tals set or 3 peice +

i aqquired the tals set recently and i was wondering if it would be better to use the whole thing, or just the armor / belt / ammy + shako and wiz

with the full set, orb is about 550 max. mana pool is around 554 life is 1.1k mf = 168
with the wiz and the shako, its about 450 max with a 800 mana pool life is about 1k mf = 203
max res / blocking etc..

If you can deal with having 63% fcr, there's nothing wrong with the full set... if you're like me, and you absolutely must have 105% fcr, go for 3 pieces.

If you don't make 105% fcr either way, but you make 63% both ways, I'd say use the whole set.

What shield are you using ? Since you're max block/res I assume this is Stormshield ?

You can get 105%FCR with full Tal's, but that requires using a 'Spirit' Monarch, something people aren't always too keen of. I'll be trying it when I make my Bliz/FireBall Sorc if I ever get to play for a substantial amount of time, so I'll let you know how it goes.

My vote goes for Tal's set. If you don't have a Stormshield you can always trade that shako you're not going to use for one. :) As for the build, I suggest a dual tree sorc, just because Tal's really compliments one. A Cold/fire sorc is very fun with the set.

i already had a shako, infact i found 3 in same day... ia 140/139 and a 136 def. that made me decide to try, cause i didnt have to buy the shako or the wizzy, i already had them on hand.

i traded the 139 straight across for a SS, but my sorc wasnt built to use a SS, shes to high of level now to worry about investing in STR cause i hate doing endless baalruns. i might get another 3-6 levels but theres no way im going past 95.. rofl. ain any case, shes max block with a uped mosers and it has 2 pdiamonds in it.

the purpose for the SS was for a smiter i plan on building, although there might be one of two better choices out there, a friend of mine had just found it and he was using a steelskull casque so we decided to trade eachother.

after i made the thread last night, i put the shako and wiz on and put the tals items in my inventory and i swapped around with them inbetween runs, and i cant really notice a big difference, other than the fact i dont have to guzzle down as many blues while trying to find durance level 3....

i think that the dmg might make me have to use 1 or 2 less orbs to kill meph, but theres all kinds of factors weather or not thats worth it or not, like weather or not i do max damage by casting it correctly or not so many times, or missing and only hitting him with one sharde.

i guess i could keep trying it back and fourth to see what actually is better for me, but im almost driving myself crazy making sure i use the better option.

PS: im not gonna use the occulus ever again. 25% change to tele can kill..KILL ISAY!

ARRRrrrrgghghhhhhh... I can't read any more posts about full tal's vs. 3 pieces that don't even acknowledge that fcr has breakpoints! >.<

i remember an sc dood who posted that the perf mf setup is:

travs
skullders
occy
shako
chancies
goldwrap
sojs
maras
rhyme

or something along those lines. gogo 20 fcr.

I never made a full Tals build although I coul dof several times. I just like the Wizzy and the Shako.....

With that setup you only need magefists and a ring with a fcr mod on it to reach the 63% bp(the only necessary one).
