View Full Version : Windy vs Fire Sorc Help
Hey, I recently made a windy and am still learning how to duel well with them. I seem to have trouble with fire sorc's. I am using
shako
dwarf
soj
maras
enigma
treks
magefist
tgods
wiz
spirit
torch
3ele gc's
I have tried teleing on top of them but for some reason they never seem to get stunned by my nado and bear. I have also tried running around and teleing but whenever I get close tothem they usually kill me with a few fireballs. If they hit me once it is hard to avoid the others. Does anyone have any tips or advice on beating fireball sorc's with a windy?

what's your life/dmg. Why are you using bear, wolves tank MUCH better imo.

You don't seem to reach the 99fcr breakpoint with this setup - perhaps just ditch dwarf and wear a fcr ring with nice secondary mods.
I hope more experienced people will post in this thread because I have the same problem with fire sorcs (I am still slightly underequipped and low level though which definitely contributes to my poor performance :azn: ).

Some might disagree with me. But from experience, you can try using twister right after the tele namelock. As twisters have a greater coverage than a nado. After you put them into fhr with twister + hurricane, spam nado.

Bear does more damage and stuns people. Fireball has splash damage anyway so the minion stack with wolves doesn't help me there. I have about 2.5K life and about 4K nados with about a 2K hurricane. And yes I do hit the 99 fcr bp.

I would but sometimes I can't even cast a single nado b4 they stun lock and kill me with fireballs. It seems that since they sit still and spam, when I tele-lock them, an already cast fireball hits me and gives them a chance to recast. They usually tele away if I go behind them though so I never get a good opportunity to sneak up on them. I guess I just need to practice more.

Hi Ace, hope this helps:
Firstly, I would try for more ele gcs, (i'm sure you are), but the increase in damage and the benefit to cycl. armour helps vs. sorcs.
Here are a couple of tips if you find that you can't get close to them and survive long enough to nado them:
1) use wolves, try them
2) tele towards them in a zig zag, but an uneven one (e.g. if they are straight up from you, do 1 tele to the up and right, and then 2 teles to the up and left. I find that a lot of fire sorcs just spam fireballs and swivel their mouse in the direction they see you moving.
Of course you want to get to "melee" distance on full hp.
3) have doom switched out, and when your hurricane clips her, do a full circle around her with 3 teles. (think tri. WW of the barbs). If that does't kill her, it should put them on low enough hp for a namelock tele + nado.
4) Play defensively, you make have more hp than the sorc, but if you notice that you can't kill her by brute tele + nado, then stop doing it. The sorc will do a lot more damage, and can make up for the lack of hp by "racing" you in terms of who kills first in direct exchange of damage.
By defensively, I just mean that you shouldn't try to kill her in one exchange; do a bit of damage, then tele away, recast armour/summons/sage and then come back.
5) Use your surroundings. Walls in blood moor , houses in blood moor. Stay on opposite side of the house from sorc, tele to her side but behind her to clip with hurricane, and then tele to another side of the house where the sorc can't hit you directly with fireball, and then repeat.
The sorc can tele faster, but she has to predict where your going and then chase you, so don't always tele to the same/opposite side of the house/wall from her, mix it up, keep her guessing.
6) can even use some of the technique you use for fighting melees, lay 3-4 nados, and then tele away as they appear on screen. Do this if you find that the opponent likes to tele close to you and then fireball you; she just might tele into the nados you've casted.
Each opponent will differ, but the above are just some things you can try, and for some more general tips, try to figure out their style, borrow a friend's sorc and use it and you'll quickly start to see some problems/difficulties with using it in duels (and ask him/them for their input), and once eyou know, exploit it with your druid when your dueling them.
GG GL HF!
Never teleport on a good fb sorc while you are namelocked. You Will die, unless you are using max res or absorb. Like necnecnecro said, zigzag teleing is your best bet. Defensive play is also somewhat effective, although again, a good one will still probably win in the end.
The best way I've found is to teleport on them from the south. If you are positioned Just right, they won't be able to namelock you, but you can namelock them. A good ES/fb sorc will escape this at least once, but if you can do it twice its over. Never chase the sorc in a straight line, or you will eat fbs. Also, be very aware of cyclone armor. Make sure its up and at maximum strength at all times.
Against agressive fb sorcs, who like to teleport On you, play defensively, spamming upwards, and you will win in no time.
All in all, without absorb/maxres, a windy has a hard time against any decent fb sorc. If you have the best gear and charms available, you have a much better chance, but its still iffy.
