View Full Version : Starting out with MF, how to find the low lvl mf uniques ? der=0><
I just started playing again last week, and am in the process of making a MF sorc.
I have a 4 socket topaz armor, gull, 23% mf boots and angelic gloves + belt (for a set bonus of 40 mf)
What i lack however are the good normal MF uniques, like chanceguards, tarnhelm, goldwrap. Where would i be able to "quickly" find these ? Is it easier to trade for them instead ? (what would they be worth?)
I read the item generation sticky but i must admit i didnt understand any of it, was a tad too long and complex
Normal Mephy can drop them, but I would concentrate on NM or Hell Mephy, because they will drop from them often too, and you will have a chance for much better items.
I remember that I wanted my first Chance guards so badly (it was before MF tournament in SPF), that I run normal Mephy 7 hours without a break before they dropped. (~1000 runs). When I run Hell meph during that tournament, another 3 or 4 dropped :)
I can recommend to download Atma from SP forum (sticky is there). It contains a good drop calculator. So without knowing any technical things, you could find out the odds for specific items...
Such low level uniques can drop from NM and hell bosses ?
I did MFing alot back in 1.09 and i cant ever remember seeing goldwrap, tarnhelm or chanceguards from meph
Maybe because i had them and it wasnt that big a deal for me
Will i be able to find these items in a reasonable amount of time with the measly MF i have ? (96 from armor, 23% from boots, 40 from glove + belt (set), 100 from weapon)
Of course they do drop from hell bosses.
260 MF, Chance guards, solo play (ATMA drop calc):
normal Meph: 1/287
NM Meph: 1/407
Hell Meph: 1/487
What is reasonable time? There is no guarantee. Like I said, I run for chance guards with ~350 MF and got them from normal Meph after 1000 runs... They can drop the first run for you.
normal Meph is the best, but NM meph can drop other goodies as War Travs, Skullder's, Occulus etc. You are probably not able to run Hell meph yet...
If you are worried about the MF:
259% mf -> 127% better chance for unique (+127%)
400% mf -> 153% better chance for unique (+26%)
As you can see, not much of a difference.
