Basically I know that all monsters have a level which determines the level of what they can drop. I know for instance that Baal is level 85.

Is there a guide that determines the level of the areas in Diablo?

I am sure that the Pits in ACT1 are level 85 and so is the mausoleum.

What I am trying to do is run the high level areas with no MF so that I can find high level socketables for trading.

One further question I found a 3s Scarab Husk def 478 which is very near the top of the tree for that item, but I have been told that this is nowhere near as good as mage plate which is a lot lower in defence and they are both light armours.

Thanks for your help

Isn't Baal higher than lv 85? :o

Mausoleum, pits, ancient tunnels (act 2), durance of hate (act 3) and worldstone keep are the ones I know to be high monster lv areas.

I guess the less MF you have, the better chances for grey/white items.
Tho it's completely random what drops.

Hi,

I used a scarab husk for Lionheart and i'm glad with it, since it's light, the def is good, and i use it on a Javazon who doesn't get close range. As i find many scarab husk and no mageplate, i use what i find.

You can find the map lvls on the forums. For socket items, what char are you using. If you have a massive crow control one, run the cows with no-MF. At least you'll find many gems and charms. Otherwise the Pits are very nice.

Baal is mlvl 99, not 85.

In arealevels 84 and 85, the items from highest Treasure class (TC87) drops fairly often (according to other areas) from regular monsters.

Also useful tool is Atma drop calculator, Atma can be downloaded from SP forum, sticky thread is there for Atma.

i wouldn't use that scarab for socketing myself tbh... i would wait for something with 500+def, which is roughly the highest base def for elite light armours... look out for some sup wire fleece, archon plate, etc... basically anything that is light with 500+def

if you're looking for socketables (it has already been mentioned but i thought i would reiterate) hell cows is a good place to start, be sure that you are wearing none or very little mf gear so you maximise your chances of dropping white items...

hope that helps.
