I have a major problem.

I played DII this morning for a little while, stopping at 1:30. I left to go Barnes n Noble and I bought a book my girlfriend wanted for her and then I did some writing on my laptop there in the cafe. I came home around 5 and all of a sudden DII won't open. It always prompts me to insert the disc when it's already in. Also, under My Computer it shows that the drive is empy. The exact error is when I go "Start>Run>D:"...

Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows.

... The funny thing is that at first I thought it was a hardware problem, that maybe my laser was messed up and I'd need a new cd drive, however, my computer will play any audio CD I put in, as well as any other game or DVD. It's only my DII disc that doesn't work, and I have tried the one copy I own and two copies my room mate owns, so it isn't the actual disc that's causing a problem, as all three work in his computer just fine and dandy.

So far I have updated all the drivers and anything like that, so everything is up to date. I have looked online for guidance for hours, but to no avail. Also, I went online looking for an ISO torrent, but the only ones I could find had one person seeding and didn't start dowloading at all. I'm afraid my only solution would be to get MPQs from someone over an FTP or something, as I attempted to set up a network with my room mate, even to the point where I had to set up remote assistance with a very computer savy friend who couldn't help either. Would anyone be willing to help me get MPQs or an ISO over an FTP or something?

Thanks for any insight,
Lucky

There's only one solution.

Gib acct and pw's to me!!!

Or, get a whole new CD drive. Happened to me once before like that - had to replace D drive. Weird though, if it plays other games.

Maybe you're getting punished by the D2 gods? Better gib accts and pw's.

You could always just put the MPQs on your roommate's PC and tranfer them via MSM, FTP, gmail, whatever, that way without having to network the computers (unless you've got an incredibly slow up rate)... or if you've got access to a burner, that'd be a fairly quick way too.

I assume you need the MPQs to run d2loader or some other no-cd crack and that's why you're asking for them? If not, you might consider trying such a thing.

I can't think of any reason why windows would claim D2 discs in general were corrupt to help you there though sorry.

Well, I burned a copy of the CD and it works.. I immedietly dragged all the of files into a folder for backup, just incase though. I'm on. :)
