i am staring at both right now... i know this is a hot topic among most smiters... but i need to know... which one is the better smiter shield? This is how i look at it...

Exile: gives the defiance aura... which gives a huge def bonus... but vs smiters its useless because smite doesnt need AR...
15% chance to cast life tap... ok i can see how this is usefull... but chances art it wont come out your first hit... and it only takes a few before the other person is dead... so is it really worth it for the life tap?
Hoz: +50 to resis... very useful... +2 to all paladin skills... smiter, hs, charge, fanat, and defiance all go up... socketable... so resis or reduce dmg can go up...
+20 vit and +20 str... speaks for itself... and the 75% ctb is nice...

so what is the arguement for exile? is it better for smiter v barb ? can someone plz explain?

Yes, I suppose exile would be much better against any other non-smiter melee (smiter is actually considered non-melee) character, provided you get max block with holy shield.

Myself I usually go with a hoz on my smiter, and leave the ed/ar exile for my zealer

Exile is important in a smite vs smite duel. Getting lifetap going is one of the winning factor.
