Is there a guide for a smiter paly? Specifically, I want to find a good guide for ubers. I also need a list of good equipment to use, no matter the cost.

and there is a guide in the paladin guide sticky as well, it is under the name "vindicator" (the real name for a smiter)

Wow...those are really really expensive uber builds. I'll never understand why people do that.

Here's the poor-man's-uber-build-that-works:

Guillaume's Face Helm
Stormshield (or HoZ)
String of Ears
Raven Frost
'Duress' Armour
Some rare ring with resistances or another raven frost
Goblin Toes
'Black' Flail
Trangoul's gloves/bloodfists/dracs if you can afford them
Lifetap wand (easily shoppable from Malah in hell)

Charms: any and all resistance/life charms.

Walk in, cast life tap, smite away.


20 Smite
20 Fanaticism
20 Holy Shield
1 Salvation
Rest wherever you want, I put defiance.

Hoz cheap?In europe ladder it costs ist(s).

Europe scl prices:
Guil face helm (pgems)
Lightsabre weapon (pgems),fast smite and light absorb
Elite 4 sock paladin shield with 4xpdiamonds (cheap,it can easily get 100+ all res)
Duriel's shell or smoke armor (nef+lum), both pgems
Gore rider or goblin toes. Gore will require a lem or pul,goblin pgems.
Raven/all resist ring with smoke,2 all res rings with duriel's. Both pgems.
All res amulet.pgems.
Dracul's (pul) if you can afford them for gloves,something with resists if you can't. You ll have to use life tap wand but it is risky like this.
Credendum belt (pgems)
Lightning/cold charms in the inventory.


20 zeal
20 fanaticism
20 sacrifice
20 holy shield

Smite the bosses (1pt smite as holy shield prerequisite) and if you have to,zeal the minions.

About a week or two ago I had the same question. From my research building a smiter for the Ubers only is tough. Reason #1 unless you have friends to rush you... you are going to find it very difficult to level - and you want to be in the 80-90+ range to do UBERS. Reason #2 Smite is great against bosses...but pretty much useless against hordes or minions (FlayJungle anyone????)

However, if you're patient enough the Smiter is a great build against the UBERs and an even greater build if you are planning on some PvP fun. But PvM? Well not so useful.

My recomendation is a PvM Zealot with 1 point in Smite. Ubers is all about crushing blow anyways. I've started my zealot pally and he goes like this:

Zealot: 20
Fanaticism: 20
Holy Sheild: 20
And I'm torn whether to now progess to sacrifice: 20 or something else. Throw at least a point into salvation as well (+60 resists all except poison)... but return is diminished for more than 1 point I think.

Regardless you do need some gear with heavy resists. I've assembled some stuff but I'm not done yet... here is my list so far...

Armour: Enigma - its relatively cheap, gives you teleport capabilities, + skills and other mods.

Weapon: Last Wish Berzerker Axe - Gotta have a high damage one handed weapon. I play nonladder so Grief isn't an option for me. The big mods here are the damage (350-400% enhanced and the 60-70% crushing blow)

Shield: HoZ socketed with an "UM" rune is my choice. Gives me lots of + to skills and with the Um rune +77 to all resists. Also has a high block percentage...combined with Holy shield this helps you save Dex points on Max block stats.

Gloves: Dracs - you absolutely need a source of life tap against the UBERs. Some prefer to have a wand as a second weapon and switch and cast. Dracs is better because as you hit it casts Life Tap (Level 10) automatically... plus it has 10% life steal. I haven't tried to socket this item yet... I don't think you can. But the only thing I'd like it to have that it doesn't is some increased attack speed.

Ammy: Gotta get resists. Mara's is good for that

Charm: Annilus. If you don't ahve this charm you're losing out on reists and +skills. Next to a good crushing blow/high dam weapon I'd say this is # 2.

If you're going the "buy" way you can get the axe, annilus for about $35 - they're hard to find in trades. I always see HoZ up for trade, Enigma and Dracs commonly too. If you've got some good gear to get rid of you can probably pick them up in open games...but be careful who yout rade with as there are ways to scam you.

Lw is too Ladder only Rw Like grief.
max possible ed that Lw can get is 390% also Lw has change to trigger life tap+ it provides fade. so your resists aint problem

enigma isn't cheap at all, 2x hr isnt cheap by my standards, and isnt even the best uber armor, that would be between a coh and fort imo...

if you use fade, no need for maras, get highlords

Thanks for all your constructive criticism on how much I suck.

I've been playing this game for a grand total of 4 weeks after getting it at Christmas. The most unfortunate part is the majority of players I've run into on BNet are what I'd call... Elite-ist Snobs. Always telling you that your gear sucks and theirs is better. Telling you what you "should have done" instead of how their first paladin (etc.) sucked too.

As for paying for items... well I got the game (D2 + LOD) for $15. I suppose I could make as much fun of you for paying full retail price...
