Hi i am looking to make a lightning Pally but i have a few questions.

i am currently pally fanat who is level 80. he uses a lightsabre but the damage is max 1500. I messed up the skill placement and put 20 points in smite.

I need to do more damage as my killing speed is slow in Hell.

I am looking to make a Tesladin but i am not sure.

The damage would be great but the life leech may be terrible and one thing i have learned playing LOD is that for a melee character leech is everything.

i was thinking

HS 20
RL 20 for synergy
Holy Shield 20
Zeal 20 (just for raw damage for leaching)
on this point would it be better to put 4 into Zeal
and 20 into sacrifice

Let me know what you think and please do not mention equipment as i have none

I am on Ladder Euro realm

So what i am really saying is will this character be a faster killer in hell than a Zeal/Fanatic

ok, heres some numbers: 4 in zeal and 20 in sacrifice gives +240% damage and +40% AR, while max zeal and 1 in sacrifice gives +108% damage and +200% AR. zeal and sacrifice maxed gives +336% damage and +200% AR. im not sure what your skill levels are at now, but maxing fanat, sacrifice, and zeal gives you a lot of damage.
with maxed holy shock and resist lightning, it adds 1-about 3.5k lightning damage. it can get really high max with some +skills, but its always got a low minimum damage.
my suggestion, is if your pally right now doesnt have maxed zeal, sacrifice, and fanat, try remaking him so he has them. if you really want to go the tesladin route, get the highest physical damage possible (4 zeal and 20 sacrifice, add more zeal if you have points to spare) and as much life leech as possible. just my thoughts.

First, don't answer your own posts, there is an edit button that you can use an hour after your first post's time.

To your question. If you want a "lightning" pally that can leech enough make this:

20 zeal
20 sacrifice
20 Holy shock
20 resist lightning
Rest holy shield

You need 75% ias to hit maximum zeal speed when using a phase blade and having no fanaticism.

Guil face as helm for crushing blow and deadly strike
gore rider boots for the same reason
Azurewrath socketed with shael for weapon (speed+extra elemental/magical damage)
Dracul's gloves for life tap mostly.
Highlord's amulet for ias/deadly strike.
Nosferatu belt for 10 ias. You'll hit max speed with it.If you want you can socket guil helm with 15%ias jewel and choose another belt,t-gods or verdungo.
Ravenfrost ring and a rare ring with stats like resists/mana leech/str/dex etc etc, just cover your needs here.
Shield can be herald of zakarum ideally,or sanctuary shield (ko ko mal) made in an elite pally shield.
Good armors are duress (shael um thul) ,duriel's shell.
You can use the griswold combo (shield/armor) too...

Hope that helps.

from that, i dont think he will have most, if any, of what you suggested

IMO zeal needs to be maxed since that's the main sourse for your ar increase. And whether you want to max sacrifice or salvation last is up to you. Basically sacrifice is slightly better since it allows for the killing of light immunes faster. But sacrifice might add more damage in total and it helps a lot in parties.

It really depends on your endgame weapon. Crescent moon phaseblade is one of the top choice for a tesladin. The physical damage is poor but the -35% Light resistance is invaluable.

Since crescent moon has ignore target defense, putting points on zeal is somewhat a waste. 4pt after skill is enough, and more should be placed onto sacrifice to get the damage boost

Try to get 4fpa zeal, very possible with a phaseblade and an andariel's face.

On the other hand, azurewrath has inbuilt 30 ias that can go to 50% with a shael and it makes sure that no undead will pose any problem. Generally immunes are not an issue with it and you can still use guil face for the massive cb/ds bonus.

Anyway, a duriel's armor and a guil face can be acquired with a handful of pgems if not free...Dracul's,azurewrath and gore riders need a semi-lucky hellforge altogether. And this is D2, a game that heavily depends on items.
