View Full Version : Virus help pls
My computer has a virus. I have a dell, with window's xp home edition. I've run avg scanner and it detects it, and it says it heals it, or deletes it which ever i choose to hit. Obviousely it doesn't, because everytime i restart my computer it pops up saying it's found the virus.
I cna't system restore, because i have 45MB OF FREE SPACE LEFT. I can't defragment, because it requires at least 200mb of free space. All I can do is run Disk cleanup. That works for about 5 minutes, and it only retrieves like 5 mb's.
About 3 weeks ago i had 87%Free computer space, now it's saying I have 0% free. SOmeone please help, I don't have the money to call and ask those tehc support. I refuse to call dell, because all i get are foreigners (no offence ment) and i can't understand a word any of them are saying. Someone please help me with some programs I can download to delete this virus and fix my computer. Thank's in advance.

post a topic with your problem, they will ask you do dl a program that does a scan that lets them know whats goin on which takes up a little space. if you cant get on internet/other stuff, download it on a different non-infected computer and floppy disk it over to the other one, then kill the floppy.
try panda online scan (http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm) (you'll have to open it in IE) It has removed me some virus that AVG couldn't delete before.

What umean by format c drive?
Anyways.. I downloaded like 15 spyware/virus/malware scanners and such and one that is very helpful is ..damn it starts with a k and it's an online scanner. Anyways i was watching it scan, and for like 2 hours the only files on the bottom were porn >< I also noticed that after it finsihed i had like 300k trojans. I am in no way exageriating.. two viruses are all it found, and both were password locked. I found them in C:/Documents and settings/Complete and couldn't delete them, when i tried it just locked up my computer and took me to a black screen. Now im kinda scared..

He means if you have important documents on your computer back them up on disk or the web or where ever. Then format your HDD and reinstall windows.
Definitely the easiest solution, so long as you either have nothing you can't lose and can't back up, often the fastest solution, but it's not particularily elegant. Once a box gets to the point you say yours is at it's something to consider though.
Also - you say scanners have found/ID'd the viruses and are just unable to remove them, right? Have you tried googling their names to look for manual removal techniques?

Mouse is right. Once you know the viruses names, you can find manual removal techniques for them.
How do ppl get 300k trojans on their computer???!
You must have like hundreds of ppl trying to get into your bank accounts with your diablo acct/pw!

Each one is a pornographic file, but iwas watching the screen at the bottom where it lists the file names it's scanned.. and i noticed things like granny porn and animals ****ing women. I am DEFININITELY NOT into that kinda stuff.. So I have a feeling that since I have no firewall, or active virus scanner that it all just kinda built up from thing's i've downloaded o.o

Virus files like that are usually named some stupid thing.

You need to get yourself some protection my friend!
Get some room on your hard drive and load up AdAware SE personal edition and a decent virus scanner like NOD32 or Sophos. Then you're set.
lol I'll take all that into consideration. No more porn for me.. I'll do it on my friends computer ^.^

Fixing your computer is easy!
1). Take pewter to local computer shop
2). Man behind desk will say "wuw?"
3). You say "Diablo character in danger, help please!!"
4). Man will "ask you to leave or he will phone the Police."
5). Move on to the next computer shop
6). Again, man behind the desk will say "wuw?"
7). Compose your self this time and say "clean spyware/viruses off computer please! My Diablo character is in danger of dieing to a computer chug!"
8). Man behind desk will say "wug?"
9). You say "I have an soj, and you can have my nm hell forge."
10). Man behind desk will explain that "they take Cash, VISA, or Interac, & that it will be ~$70 for the service"
11). Return to computer store in a few days and pick up your de-virused computer and return to normal playing habbits.
12). Visit local PrOn-o-holics meeting once a week (optional)

Seriously though! If you don't know much about the whole "Format C:" thing, and its gotten to the point where its filling your computer with crap. It will probably be easier (frustration wise) to just take it to a professional.

Keeping in mind that's just the downloaded+kept stuff, what would you recommend an appropriate amount of gigs be? Or should I actually be looking to increase the amount of files stored?
Of course since that screen shot is clearly not about porn I'm not sure how this post relates to the topic.
