OW question

How much OW is really needed (minimum amount %) for this mod to be useful? for pvp

The dmg OW does is based on your char lvl.

In case you are too lazy to look it up here is the OW table curtesy of rikstaker:

Character Level Damage Per Second---------Duration
1-15 _________0.88*clvl + 3.03 ----------->8 seconds
16-30_________1.76*clvl - 10.16----------->8 seconds
31-45_________2.64*clvl - 36.52-----------> 8 seconds
46-60_________3.52*clvl - 76.07-----------> 8 seconds
61-99_________4.39*clvl - 128.81 -----------> 8 seconds

Basically if you are going to pvp you want it to be 500+ dmg over 8 secs.
As for how much % chance of OW you need try to get Gores+dracs (at least 35%). I'm speaking from a barb perspective but I'm sure most of the classes that actually use OW will be very similar in terms of build.

The faster you can kill the other guy (e.g. lots of raw damage, low HP opponent, high chance to hit, etc.) the less important OW is, so how much is needed depends on the match up. Obviously it never hurts to trigger OW, but often times you have to sacrifice in other areas to get a high % chance for OW.

To emphasis on that. It also depends on your opponent. High defense chars like smiters/ww barbs/etc. You'll want more OW since you won't be hitting them a lot of times.

Also vs. ES sorcs, you'll want more OW to bypass their ES.

one question i noticed on my assa that when i had ow on my gear, i.e 2x chaos claws (think i had max ow % need to check) my health started to drop.

Is this some kinda bug?

Are you sure you didn't have a Malice claw (-5 life drain) equipped? I've never noticed my health dropping just from wearing a Chaos.

Open wounds is just an extra unless you are bvbing, or are a ww sin. It is not something you should sacrifice for, merely something that is nice to have. Turns out, 500 pvp dmg over EIGHT seconds is next to nothing, Except for in bvb(only because the duels are retardedly long).

yeah i realised stupid me i had malice claw on as well :smiley: then when i wore 2 of them my life started to drop
