Unsocket item?

I was wondering, how does this exactly work? If I have an armor with 4 sockets, and I use this formula on it, will it remove the sockets, making it a white item, or will it only remove the things in the sockets?

In other words, if I have a 4 socket archon plate, can I somehow make it into 3 socket?

I assume your talking about the recipe:

1 Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal + Any Socketed Item = Unsocket that item


If so, it'll just remove any items from the sockets, not the sockets themselves. Note that you will lose any items that were in the sockets.

Edit: No, there's no way to make an existing 4 socketted armor 3 sockets.

nope...can't change the # of sockets...the recipe will clean any existing sockets that are currently dirty...all that will be left in the cube will be the item....whatever was in the sockets disappears
